We've tried to have replacement parts made, but so far we have not been successful. With talk of people changing the systems, we'd love to recover usable parts.Re: Triple A versus Good Samenblethen "I have decided not to renew. It is just too costly for us as we have never used it in many years" Enblethen, I understand your frustration with the cost, I think it is high too, and if I had other coverage I wouldn't continue. But we were overcharged by a mobile mechanic the first time we used it...GS ERS made good on the overcharge. Then almost 3 years ago we had a spate of bad luck while towing a trailer with the RV. We needed two tows in less than a week. GS ERS had problems finding service providers and we had to pay $100 on the first tow and pay all of the 2nd one up front. After submitting the receipts, GS reimbursed us over $1800, which included the $75 to have our drive shaft reinstalled twice. A couple of months later our 48 MG lost the generator driving home about midnight, and we were towed 75 miles home. That one was easy. Fast response and no out of pocket expenses. We haven't used it in 2 years and I hope to never need to use it again, but I figure we are money ahead and will keep paying for it just in case.Re: Triple A versus Good Sam enblethen wrote: I wish my renewal was only $60! Mine showed up for $219.95. I have called, someone will get back to me. Yeah right! I e-mailed, no reply. My insurance like azdryheat has roadside. The $219.95 is for the Platinum+, which isn't listed on the website and only offered if you renew it (I'm told). The $60 is available with less service & for 1st time customers only. With the Platinum Plus you can pick the repair facility/location, a big advantage over the basic policy. The names are confusing but there is a difference in the Platinum and Platinum+ coverages.Re: TIFFIN MODELS - DRIVING COMPARISONS mikim wrote: You may want to consider this option instead of upgrading your rig: http://www.hendersonslineup.com/ We have a short (190" wheelbase) DP also and highly recommend Henderson's. We took ours up last summer for the road test. They identified that 3 of our 4 koni shocks were bad. We replaced all four plus had it aligned. Big improvement in overall handling, especially in wind or when hitting dips in the roadway. Disappointing they couldn't get Koni to stand behind the shocks, but the staff were all VERY NICE and they have electric hook ups (30 amp) for customer use.Re: A&E Weather Pro Power AwningI watched the awning specialist replace our motor. It was not a plug and play operation. I don't recall all the things he mentioned he was doing, but it does involve having to drill out a rivet or two and it is important to know which ones as well as how to handle the spring/tension for the roll up part. My husband is a very good DIY guy, but we were both glad to have the expert do this fix.Re: which tow package is bestWe have a 2016 GMC Acadia that we are outfitting to tow. We plan to install switches, but for now we are pulling the fuses (3). It was our understanding if you didn't pull the fuses, the odometer would record the miles. We used the Blue Ox base plate and Avail towbar with the Air Force One braking system. We only towed one trip, but the horn went off (like an alarm activation) when we opened the driver's door...so we plan to pull the horn relay to avoid this in the future... Anyone have a better fix?Re: Dometic Penguin II A/c Heat pump installationCheck this link for installation instructions: http://www2.dometic.com/fe9ddc2e-b45b-4c88-9f1f-2d34e529d640.fodoc or just do an Internet search, the diagrams and instructions may help you. It does explain how to set the dip switches (pg 18)Re: Dometic 5 Button Thermostat Lost One ZoneI just wanted to chip in and agree with the above posters in thanking Doug for all his help. We had an a/c unit problem a couple years ago and his help was most valuable in installing the new one and getting everything up and running. I just wish he was operating near my home so I could just bring the RV to him and my husband didn't have to do the hands on work. We have not had good experience having to pay high rates for someone to learn by trial and error on our coach. THANK YOU DOUGRAINER!Re: Mountain bike storage ideasWe understand Our choice was cl A & put bike in basement. Also look at frt eng (FRED) classAs. Several have large storage bays which could hold two bikes We did rent a cl C and used the cab over bed for the bike. Rough when bike wet or dirty. But it kept it safe and with custom rack could store 2 singles and then curtain it off from the living qtrs Good luck shoppingRe: Motorcycle liftWe've used a Cruiser Lift with great success. http://www.cruiserlift.com/cruiserlift.html The web site has a worksheet to see if it would work on your motorhome: http://cruiserlift.site.aplus.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/addedweightdiagramrev2.pdf This works with just the motorcycle and/or flat towing. It also comes off if not needed.
