All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: attentive to standard interior wallswell i am a thinker well we will keep up with the maintenance and we are having it customized from the factory were it gets delivered to a customizer as empty room with a toilet and maybe a kitchen sink but i want to know all the products they are putting it not leaving much to chance if its not the best of in the top 5 then we are wanting something better yes not trying to build a tank just want something that will not give us problems in 2 weeks off to have something fixed might cost us 10 grand or more as i this is for me working for an indipendent film crew and the other unit not talked about much for the owner and the crew when on the road we are both living our prospective coaches so a few extra bucks to avoid these problems is worth the hassle and the aggravation not to mention to get the look and feel we want meaning its our home not just a car or van its our home so we want our way and we want it done right so known problems should be solved or reduced without regard to cost to some degree a bit of class with little compromise http://www.houzz.com/plexiglass somethings just can not be done no hanging light fixtures but full spectrum lighting from LEDS by using multiable color temperature LEDs and allot of defusing we can get the a soft wide spectrum light witch is impartant to me yet most of my power will be going for my electronics with enough left over for the stove and the air conditioner leaving a few amps of 12 volt left over for the lighting a 50 amp service is a most or i will have to use the gen for half my stuff if on a 30 amp service or not being able to cook and listen to my music at the same time as that would involve the computer and the amplifiers the amplifiers alone would use 1000 watts of power at max volume then my personal desktop with a 1000 watt power supply that never gets turned off and a smaller htpc computer for storing my music as i will not have access to Pandora all the time some sacrifices will be made we are aware of thisRe: rubber gym floorok marine grade pressure treated plywood i do not see any issue with that as i know pressure treated plywood is pretty much immune to rot unless its outside exposed to the weather and the lauan plywood has me a bit worried as i have used this stuff before for backs of cabinets its not very strong and it warps quite a bit unless its well secured to a rigid frame now the fiberglass they apply to it might help with keeping moisture out of the wall but this seems like a not so great choice if it works it works like somebody said the delaimnating issue on the outside most of the time now i am not worried about a flood just maybe steaming up the shower and opening the bathroom door and going to bed or maybe a cooking mess involving a spaghetti water spill its a full time lived in home not a get away what can be done to seal things up if need be i have read about the sewer solution malfunction with the presure release vent valves flooding out a coach my boss wants to use the sewer solution on his coach so we have to either account for this possibility or use a different product now at point does water become a problem is a long hot shower a problem is spaghetti water a catastrophe 6 months after the fact even if its wiped up right away or is none of this an issueRe: rubber gym flooris the floor bellow it already steel with plywood on top or is it ply wood on top of steel beams then your flooring i do not know what the base construction is for the floor is i know allot of RV haves ply wood much like a house but i thought there was steel under the ply woodRe: attentive to standard interior wallsso having a backslash for the kitchen area and proper shower panels in the bathroom is what you would suggest to reduce this problem and with a rhino roof outside moisture is not likely to be a problem for a long time so my only real fear is having a miss adventure with the stinky slinky by the looks of it as i want to take my desktop computer with me ya that was a royal pain to figure out do not ask but its worked out no need for solid state hard drives and the flooring is not as a big of or worry for me as compatibility is not an issue just want the best option another threadRe: RV Mattress Co Short King Replacementhow hard is it to get the old one out and the new one in i would imagine its a 2 man job and that it has to flex around everything as it goes in to its final resting place now this item would increase your options a bit if your wanting a really soft bed they make these with memory foam as well with polyurethane foam of versing densities i like this option as its a layer that can be dry cleaned others can be washed and dried but kinda hard to clean the whole mattress something to think aboutrubber gym floori want a floor that is carpet like on my feet but easier to clean now i was thinking a rubber gym floor of the same type you would find at the local gym were you pay a monthly membership fee to lift weights use a tread mill here is the big issue i found a pruduct that can be installed over plywood with no issue its a rubber sound proofing underlayment and this would naturally allow for the rubber flooring to layed on top as they are both made from the same base rubber type but i would rather start from the steel floor and avoid any hidden plywood for issues we all know about rot delianmating walls and such as i am becoming a full timer now with proper a moisture beerier a plywood sub floor be ok so if you do not know of any alternatives i will likely go with a plywood subfloor to insure compatibility the manufacturer of the rubber sound proofing underpayment says normally their product is applied to plywood with their special glue but that see no reason it would not stick steel as its a thick syrup like glue that drys to a flexible stretchable latex like rubberattentive to standard interior wallsi becoming a full timer very soon with a customized coach from the start i do not want to see the deliminate issue so i want some type of high strength plastic http://www.parklandplastics.com/plas-tex.shtml these are not a bad option they can come topped with a colored top coat the big issue with these is they have a massive thermal expansion and and at 3/8 inch they weigh in at 50 pounds per 4x8 sheet using aircraft rivets and a sound proofing spacer on the stud and leaving a 1/2 inch gap filled with silicone or some type of gasket and covered in trim its durable but not ideal the bigger issue will be the mounting points they make aircraft rivets that will allow 1/4 in rivet to be installed into a 1/2 inch hole due to a large holding surface but this is not ideal it can be made to work but any better options exist that are designed for an rv that do not have delineating issue i do not want to sacrifice a hot shower in fear of having the walls come apart on me but i want to also still have some options for decorative options no white walls with a choice of textureRe: cook were orginizingthanks that was helpful the last time i remember being in an RV was 20 years ago so no need to strap my pots and pans in just a cabinet with a few padded shelves in it will do the job oh ya that stuff leaves a pretty permanent mark on what ever surface you put it on i will be looking for a more chemically stable product to do the job just saying if i am cooking in these items and it leaves that mark on the shelf what being applied to the pans but slightly higher priced items do exist with the same properties that do not leave markscook were orginizingi want to have a small collection of cookware on my class A motor coach nothing huge a wok 2 small sauce pans big enough to boil an egg or some rice 2 frying pans rather it be stake or scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of Pyrex and a small cookie sheet for the occasional frozen pizza plus 2 microwave safe bowls and 2 microwave safe plates off topic but my serving ware will be stainless steel my issue is i do not want to have my cook ware clanging while on the road A do not want dents but more importantly i want to be able to watch a movie while in route or enjoy a single person rpg on my computer and i do not want to be listening my pots and pans going clank i have worked out an extensive set of measures to reduce road noise just to realize my cook ware will be clanking this will be a custom build from the factory so items can be fabricated and modified we plan to do some driving to machine shops and picking up delivering parts to customized as needed or even custom made if needed so any ideas basically the pot can not fall off a hook or bang on the wall bang on other pots and pans my thinking is some type of carabiner hook and strap for those wanting to help the walls are not gonna be the standard fiber glass covered thin plywood they are gonna be a high grade high strength plastic composite and air craft rivets to hold it to the studsRe: desktop mountinghttp://www.lazydays.com/RVService/InteriorRemodeling looks like these guys claim to have the skill and custom hardware to make this work
