Follow upwow - have to say that I've been lucky. but it all depends on what is being worked on or rather what the service dept. says they worked on. i.e we had a torn awning and it took a month, insurance issues, parts, etc. but on some electrical issues - a week. it has never been less than a week, but must say one time coming in from camping, called from on the road and the took my trailer straight to service. two strategies in dealing with them: straight talk to the service agent, explaining your frustration and time wasted. mention that you will complain on the internet ; yelp, surveys , etc. if the first strategy doesn't work. there are private shops that you can go and get your rv serviced or as I did recently; cleaned and treatemy rubber roof. took a days worth of camping, but saved hundreds.Re: surgingi know - i also posted about surge protectors - no this about state parks in and around the 70 out of denversurge protectorgoing for extended stays and traveling starting this summer and the question of surge protectors came up again. the dealer says there is one in the keystone hideout trailer (24ft.) but hearing some pretty bad stories about replacing wiring got me thinking. do i really need one and then there is the variety of protectors and cost. our trailer is basic, has tv, micro, fridge, etc. would the gfci surge guard for 30 amp at around $80 do the job? it does say for entry level trailers and minimum electronics. the others cost over and near $300! thanks in advance.surgingwe are retiring soon and going semi full time - starting this summer. we have reservations at cheyenne state park in colorado - but wondering about other state parks around hway 70 that you would recommend - we pull 24 ft. trailer and don't want to boondock or white knuckle drive. thanks for any replies.rubber roof treatmenttook my tt for the yearly check up at the dealer and they wanted to do a roof treatment for close to $200. when i said no they said to just go ahead and buy the treatment and mop it on, which i plan to do. it is a rubber roof so are there any hidden don'ts or just read and follow the instructions - also is there a treatment that the forumers recommend? tnxheater elementhas anyone replaced a electric water heater element? saw a video on it and it seemed relatively easy - what would be potential problems? the yahoos at the dealer service center just did a yearly and everything worked after i picked it up and went to resort - my electrical water heater didn't work. I'm so tired of hauling my trailer to the service dealer every time something goes wrong.Water heaterArrived at the campground hooked everything up but electric heater didn't work. I hooked up to city water waited until water flowed freely and then turned on switch always worked until now! Gas water heater runs fine. Any ideas?Re: early retirement?I retired a few years ago at 55, and became an olive farmer in spain for a few years, learned a new lifestyle and trade. then I returned to the us and starting working again at 59. I will retire again soon and will full time it until I want to back to my olives. the whole point is to keep active no matter where you are and what place you call home. there are great parks all over with a mix of activities and people. good luck in your future.retiringwe are retiring this summer and would like to know of full services parks to spend a month at a time. we have been on the road for up to 47 days, but now we are planning the long term "camping." we want to spend quality time around santa fe, NM and in colorado from pueblo to colorado springs. here's what we would like to know: parks that are reasonable $500 to 650 a month is summer (june/ july) too hot? is it better to spend two weeks or a month - economically we fish, golf, tennis, mild hiking, and love to go local farmer's markets. thanks any feedback is appreciated.Re: 1/2 tonto terryallan - because of the price - we have 24ft. keystone hideout and we love it, but thinking of more room and also we have been told the handling and towing is better, true?
