It was a 2001 Prowler with a soft spot in the left rear near the pantry closet. Water had come in through the outside corner that had opened up. We bough it because it was nearly 1/3 off due the water damage and I figured "how bad could it be" I fixed it the following winter and was stunned when I pulled it apart. All the kitchen had to be removed. We replaced the last four feet of the floor and had to rebuild the last three feet of the wooden frame of the floor. Money wise the repair was cheap. Including a new floor I had under $300 in the repair. But I also had over 100 hours labor in it. In the end we ended up selling the camper because I could not trust it. For me, camping is all about relaxing. I can't relax when I'm worried about what is going to fall apart next. We love our new 2013 Coachmen. On an up side. The metal siding is easy to remove. Our Prowler was fiberglass and the skin could not be removed.Re: Need recommendations for a coverOk. Should I go waterproof or water resistant?Re: Qestions installing Dometic slide toppersProblem is the only two RV dealers near me I would not trust to work on my lawn mower much less my 50k 5th wheel. I can easily do the install, was just questioning the instructions use of rivets.Re: Qestions installing Dometic slide toppersHave not called them. The instructions just say screws or blind rivets. Kind of vague. Don't want to use rivets as they will only grab the outer skin and will probably pull it off eventually. Every slide awning I've looked at seems to use some sort of wood or sheet metal screw.Qestions installing Dometic slide toppersCurrently getting ready to install slide toppers on my new Coachmen 5th wheel camper before she goes to sleep for the winter. I purchased Dometic slide toppers and they come with little hardware. What kind of screws should I use to anchor the trak the awning slides into to the side of the camper and the mounting brackets that locate the awning on the slide its self. Looks like the instructions are recommending rivets. Not so sure about that as all they would grab would be the skin it's self and eventually pull it off. Want to get this right the first time.Need recommendations for a coverWell we are getting ready to put our 2013 Coachmen 328RES 5th wheel to bed for the winter and I'm currently shopping for a cover. Main question I have is should I get a water resistant cover or a water proof cover? Price difference between the two seems to be significant. Don't get much snow or bad ice around here but camper is stored off site and will be sitting for about 3-4 months. Looking for a food not too overly priced cover to last for yearsRe: Fully Grey Tank leakingDepends on the cause of the problem. If the set screw at the valve is just loose I doubt it would close more than an hour of labor, but if that was the case I would assume the cable would pull completely out when you pull on it. The other possibility would be a broken cable. Re'Re: Help me pick a stabilization system big bird 2 wrote: I never had a stabilization problem with my backpacking tent! Your tent never had air conditioning and a queen size bed Re'Re: Help me pick a stabilization systemWell. I settled on the Steady Fast. It seems it went on sale just today for $310 shipped. Closer looks at pics provided by both companies led me to believe I'm getting more for my money with this system. Just looks better built and easier to use. I also like the clamps they use instead of the "T" handle set screws on the JT. Re'Help me pick a stabilization systemWell the wife wants me to do something about the amount of movement out new 36' Coachmen has. Our old Prowler had a lot too, but she didn't want to put money into that as we knew it was a temporary step when we bought it. I've been doing some research and most say kingpin supports do little to nothing and suck up storage room. The leading stabilization units I have found are the JT strong arm and the Steady Fast system. Both seem to accomplish stabilization the same way but the Steady Fast only braces on one front and one rear jack, it's also more expensive. Looking for your thoughts and/or experiences Re'
