Like I said, love hate. Nice full moon was out in view a little bit ago but now it is raining again :). And I put some good scratches in it at the overland expo east..... Thank you for the update!Re: Help getting/installing rear sway bar keefr wrote: I installed a Hellwig Big Wig on my GMC, simple bolt-in installation, factory is in California and mine was shipped from a dealer in Utah. Tow rig is a VW Touareg TDI diesel. Do-able. Just don't do it at Noon in July! I used to tow a 10,400lbs TT up from the Wyoming side (through Manila) so I installed a Double-Deep Tranny pan on my truck. Watch your EGT's and Transmission Temps. I have seen SOOO MANY trucks cooked going up both sides of that hill to Dutch John. Just don't push your truck too hard, keep your revs constant, don't go too slow so you've got some cooling going on. Have fun! Dual electrical fans will pull air through the radiator, regardless of forward speed on a VW TDI. I'm good. What % grade are we talking? the one out of wyoming snake river over past Bear Lake to Logan was a doozy one night last June. Sorry, I thought you were in a truck with a camper, or trailer. The grades are 8-9%Re: HEKI Sun Protection & Reflectix Buzzcut1 wrote: best thing I do is open the hatch to the first position which keeps the plex from cooking because it has airflow. I have a 1" thick rectangle (cut to match the hatch size) of closed cell foam that I pop into the hatch opening just above the retractable shade. nothing to hold the heat in around the plex and no heat gets through the 1" foam and into the camper. Thank You! Is the foam white to reflect the heat? So you are leaving your hatch open 2cm to 'ventilate' according to the instructions? What about dust, critters, and rain?HEKI Sun Protection & ReflectixLooking for expert opinions on how to best protect the inside of my new (used) Northstar camper from the intense heat of summer. I've got a big HEKI hatch over the bed, and have drawn the dark screen shade across for some sun protection, but it still allows the plexiglass(?) to breathe and not totally cook in the direct sun. See below: But the heat is really bad inside the camper, and the sun is fading the bedspread, walls, cabinets in the cabover. Dometic wants me to leave it open all of the time - wind, rain, etc. The weather changes in 10 minutes and I cannot go running home to close the HEKI when a squall blows up in SLC! Here are the instructions per HEKI Do you think that I could cut a piece of Relectix cut to just inside the plexiglass and tucked up inside the dome of the HEKI? Could this in any way compromise the integrity of the hatch, or would it reflect the heat and make it cooler for the HEKI itself, thus prolonging its longevity and condition? Please advise. I am open to any ideas you may have to keep the HEKI cooler, and the inside of the camper also. I have placed Reflectix over the shower skylight and the backdoor window already. Shades are drawn on all windows in the camper. That's where we stay. 191 north is done by many RVers and you can go by what the Mtn. Directory states. We've done it both directions. We are planning to stay here at Firefighter's Memorial in a few weeks. Which campsites do you recommend for shade, and reduced highway noise?
