HEKI Sun Protection & Reflectix
Looking for expert opinions on how to best protect the inside of my new (used) Northstar camper from the intense heat of summer.
I've got a big HEKI hatch over the bed, and have drawn the dark screen shade across for some sun protection, but it still allows the plexiglass(?) to breathe and not totally cook in the direct sun. See below:
But the heat is really bad inside the camper, and the sun is fading the bedspread, walls, cabinets in the cabover.
Dometic wants me to leave it open all of the time - wind, rain, etc. The weather changes in 10 minutes and I cannot go running home to close the HEKI when a squall blows up in SLC!
Here are the instructions per HEKI
Do you think that I could cut a piece of Relectix
cut to just inside the plexiglass and tucked up inside the dome of the HEKI? Could this in any way compromise the integrity of the hatch, or would it reflect the heat and make it cooler for the HEKI itself, thus prolonging its longevity and condition?
Please advise.
I am open to any ideas you may have to keep the HEKI cooler, and the inside of the camper also.
I have placed Reflectix over the shower skylight and the backdoor window already.
Shades are drawn on all windows in the camper.
Thank you,
