VERY heavy when full, but it came with a bracket to drop on a ball hitch, so you only have to lift it about 18" to set it on a ball. Of course, you don't HAVE to fill it either, so the extra capacity is nice if ever needed. We have a 53 gallon back tank so it is possible to have more coming out of the tank than the tote can hold. I dread if that should ever happen. 53 gallons is a big tank. We never fill the black tank up, but just the grey tank, I’ve heard some ppl will just let the grey tank run out on the ground bc it’s just soapy water. I think this 21 gallon should work for us,Re: What size waste tank to buy?Thank you. We don’t really need to dump waste, but usually the grey tank fills up and can dump that n refill water tank. I’m going to,order the 21 gallon RhinoWhat size waste tank to buy? We’re going to buy a Camco waste tank, they’re available in 15, 21, 28 and 36 gallons. Our fresh water is 40 gallon and black and gray tanks are each 32 gallons. There are 2 of us, retired. Any advice on what size waste tank to go with? Thank you in advanceRe: Thinking about the next Tow Vehicle JRscooby wrote: nickthehunter wrote: blt2ski wrote: Nick I had two 3500 lb tandems, plus hitch wight to work with. But the better question is - Do you recommend the OP load up his 25 foot trailer with 1400 lbs of stuff and head out on the highway? But in reality that’s just a hypothetical question also. The real question is “OP, what is the GVWR of “your” trailer.” That’s the real info needed for any realistic advice. Baffles me why in 4 pages no one bothered to ask that question- instead of speculating about what that trailer should weigh out on the road. The OP has been using the trailer for a while now right? I think a much better question would be what the actual weight of the trailer is. If it is more than rating, (Likely) might want to adjust. But that is the number needs to tow. I don’t think the weight were towing is exceeding the 1/2 ton Ram? If the dry weight is 5100#, I can’t believe we have a lot of extra weight, we’ve got our chairs/loungers, cords, solar lights in the pass thru, some pots and pans, toaster, electric skillet, crockpot, blankets, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, minimum dry good groceries. We’re not hauling water in the tank. In the TV, 2 adults, 2 dogs, cooler, small toolbox.Re: Thinking about the next Tow Vehicle nickthehunter wrote: blt2ski wrote: Nick I had two 3500 lb tandems, plus hitch wight to work with. I really appreciate the advice and information. Whatever vehicle, probably a truck will see more miles being a Tow Vehicle. We’ve had good luck with Dodge but looking at other options. I think the older Toyota Tundras were V8 but the new ones are V6 ? Probably the main focus is going to be Dodge, Toyota Tundra and Ford. Our 1/2 ton Ram with the TT does move some in the wind, so maybe a 3/4 ton especially if we stayed with Dodge. Your mentioning current truck trailer moves in the wind. Is that a side to side rock? Or fishtailing behind? If side to side, no big, you're going to get that with an 8 lug truck too. I moved a half a lane going across I205 in Portland getting hit by the 60-80mph side winds with my trailer in tow once. That was a 9200 gvwr SW 3500 diesel crew cab! I should mention I looked at Toyotas too. Issue with them as mention, thirsty! I'm computing more than towing hauling.....I was going for the motors that got me 18-25 mpg. Toyota does come with a 10.5" rear diff, vs mostly 9.5" with others. Although the GM 4 3 like I have, came with a AAM 10 bolt 8.5" rear. The V8s come with a 9.5, same as some 2500's I've had. With Ford, watch the axle ratings, they have a lot of options. For my use, the 2.7EB looked very promising towing my 6500 lb equipment trailer. But I could not find any with a 3500-4000 lb RA. If you can find one, as noted, quite powerfully, good at elevation due to turbo, decent mileage empty. Towing like any of the gas rigs, 8-12 on bad/good days etc. Marty I think it might be more fish tailing because slowing down it goes awayRe: Thinking about the next Tow Vehicle blt2ski wrote: Surgtech94 wrote: Thanks everyone for the education! Our TT is 5,100 lbs - dry weight, 25 ft.. Anyone towing with a newer V6 either truck or SUV ? Any ‘ya or nay’ for Toyota Tundra, Toyato Tacoma, Jeep Grand Cherokee(V8), Dodge Durango. Thank you in advance Maybe it's because I just woke up from my nap, but I read I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH WEIGHT I WANT TO TOW, CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO TOW IT? First step is weigh your rig ready to go, then drop trailer and weigh again. Even better would be a 3rd pass with everything unloaded. That will tell you what you expect to tow and haul I know it adds up fast, but We don’t carry a lot of extra. It’s 2 of us, 2 dogs, typical food/groceries. A truck will tow what we have and need, but wondering will we notice a difference in towing with a 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton. Is a V6 truck almost as capable as a 1/2? Will a truck tow better then a SUV with same engine/drive train? One thing I forgot to ask in my original post. What about truck beds? So many of the crew cabs come with a short bed,
