What all to see besides Ruby Falls? I love old scenic sights and the mountain drives. Mark BrownRe: 30 amp vs 50 amp campsite ???If you have a 30A and not a 50A rig, well then ignore my previous post (Ha Ha). So you won't need the 30A to 50A adapter. You may need a 50A to 30A adapter for some sites. Some folks prefer to use the 50A to 30A adapter because most times the 50A has less use and the prongs inside it are tighter then a 30A. Mark BrownRe: 30 amp vs 50 amp campsite ???I would say it depends on where you are camping at what time of year it is. Also do you want the convenience of running the air and AC at the same time. A 30A to 50A adapter will power up both sides of your 50A rig at the same time, but you will be limited to 30A. If someone forgets and turns on to much stuff you will pop the pedestal breaker. Does the 50A site cost more? It really depends on if you like the site better and what you are willing to compromise. Remember 30AX120V=3600W and 50AX240V=12000W so quite a bite of power difference. Mark BrownRe: Batteries or Converter-ChargerJust to let everyone know, I changed out the WFCO converter to the Boon Docker series converter and now my batteries are charging again. Have not changed out any auto resettable circuit breakers yet. Thanks for all the help. Only thing that baffles me is the I checked the WFCO converter when I got it out of the RV by plugging it in and checking the voltage at the DC lugs. It shows 13V like the manual said it should. When it was hooked up in the RV it would cut out. I guess something inside it is getting ready to go out completely though. Any thoughts? Mark BrownRe: Converter/charger and auto resetable circuit breakerThanks will double check the wiring size and change to a 60a breaker. If I have to I will be pulling new wires.Converter/charger and auto resetable circuit breakerI just replaced my Wfco for a Boondocker converter/charger. My trailer came with a 40a breaker In between the charger and battery. The Wfco was a 55a charger, the Boondocker is a 60a charger. Will the 40a breaker affect the 60a Boondocker charger? I get 13.5 volts on the charger side of the breaker and only 12.4 volts on the battery side. I am going to replace the breaker. Should I go back with a 40a or a 60a?Re: Batteries or Converter-ChargerRoyB I agree. I don't plan on replacing the distribution panel, just the converter-charger. Levels in the cells are good. Specific Gravity in each cell is good and I load tested them with an Actron 100 amp load tester. Batteries both show good. I have another question. I have an auto resettable breaker between the battery and converter-charger. When I install the new converter-charger that is 60A, old one was 55A, should I replace the resettable breaker with a higher rated one? If so what size? Not sure what size is there now, forgot to look at it while I was out there, but I will. Thanks Mark BrownRe: Batteries or Converter-ChargerScottG, That's what I was afraid of. smkettner, funny that's what I was looking at after posting. Guess I will order one. After I replaced my WFCO three years ago I read about them not being the desired one to get. Will replace with the one you linked to. Thanks Mark BrownBatteries or Converter-ChargerI have two 6V batteries and a WFCO 9855 55 Amp Converter-Charger. The Converter-Charger was bought on 2/3/2011. My converter-charger is kicking in and out causing the lights to dim and the heater to kick off. The batteries load tested good with an Actron Battery 100 amp load tester bought from NAPA. Do ya'll think this could be a bad converter-charger already? Tomorrow when its daylight again I am going to check all connections and look for any breakers in the DC line. Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks Mark BrownRe: Electric service at campgroundsAnother benefit of the adapter is sometimes the 30A on the pedestal is loose and will cause the pedestal breaker to trip. You can use the adapter with the 50A and be better off.
