LT with All Star Package, Vertical Trailer Mirrors, 20" Polished Wheels, Grey Interior, Spray In Bed-liner, Navigation Radio. We are not planning on a new camper anytime soon (one big budget purchase at a time) Sorry, Can't get a picture link to work. Chuck Roder & Family '07 Surveyor SV-235RS '16 Chevy Silverado 2500 (Gas) High Springs, FL. PicturesRe: Looking at 2017 Silverado 1500, your opinion?Something I realized while truck shopping, and this will show my age, but I miss the two-tone paint schemes on trucks. I know for still does this to a limited extent, but nothing like back in the day. The two main things I liked better about the Ford vs the Chevy is the ability to get the sun/moon roof (wife wanted it, not me) and the bind spot and proximity safety systems on a lower model Ford. To get these in a Chevy you have to go to the higher end LTZ trim. GM needs to increase the availability of these features.Re: Looking at 2017 Silverado 1500, your opinion? Thanks again for the feedback. I went and drove a 2500. it was much smoother than I thought it would be. I am currently in the beginning stages of working a deal on a 2016 2500 (gas). Found one with just about everything we wanted on it (minus two minor options that are not make or break). I'll update once its in my driveway. I just hope I'm not getting ahead of myself. I REALLY LOVED it when I drove it yesterday!Re: Looking at 2017 Silverado 1500, your opinion?Thank you all for the feedback. I have looked at the 2500 gas, higjer capacity and larger engine, it has a few negatives: Still more $$$ Longer bed and wheelbase make it a little harder to manuver Slightly less MPG Like the front end look of the 1500 a little better Just feels like too much truck This is going o be the wife's daily driver. Our camping for the next 10/15 years will be limited to 2/3.from home weekend trips in FL and one week a year in the mountains. I know how my people end up with bigger camper then. Need bigger truck. My reality is I won't be retiring for at least 15 years. One kid staring g college in two yearz, ND #2 about the same time #1 finishes.my budget will never support a big 5er, nor do I want one for the way we camp. I know more people who went big, then went to the middle over those who went big and steed big. We like State Parks and want to be able to fit, plus be able to get in and out of most gas stations. We tend to research a purchase of this size to death. We already hAve a very good idea of what our next camper will be (around 27' lightweight in the under 9k lbs gross range). Again, I appreciate the feedback and opinions. We are keeping the TB and it will become my son's first vehicle, so I'm not in a rush. I intend to find the right deal. We are headed out this weekend for our last trip of the year. HAPPY CAMPING EVEYONE!Looking at 2017 Silverado 1500, your opinion? We currently have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT 5.3 V8, purchased new, currently with 210k miles. WE have towed first a Hybrid, and then our curent trailer. I have not weighed it in years, a d cant rdmember the exact weight, but I do rdmdmber we were just at the truck limit, fully loaded for a weeks vacation plus extra junk we were hauling to the inlaws. The truck has always done OK, but I have never towed with any other vehicle and I think I kept my expectations in line for wht I had. It's time for a new truck. We looked at and drove several different brands. For sevreal reasons, we have decided on a Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L,2 wheel drive, Max Trailering Package (heavy suspension, different rear gearing, 12K tow rating, higher GVWR) and the trailering mirrors. We planded to keep our current currnet camper for the next few years, and then go to a couples lout camper when the kids start College. We are decided on a TT, not a 5er, for budget and other reasons. Most likely sething in the 7K/8k weight rangd, at most. I am sure this truck would be a large improvement over our current vehicle, within budget, I would rather have more truck than I need, without go too far overboard. During most of the year we camp in FL, but head to the smoky mountains every summer. I know we all have our preferred brand, and as I said, we have decided on the Chevy for many reasons. I'm looking for any feedback on this specific setup. Pros or cons. The GM web site prices this build out at just under $45k after "MSRP" discounts. It looks like to get one like I want it, I am going to have to order it (same as I did with the current TB). For anyone in the industry or in the know, do you think it's realistic for my out the door price to land in the upper 30's, or am I delusional? The last brand new vehicle I purchased was the TB, and I worked a considerable below sticker discoumt at the time (and it was work finding a dealer willing to deal). Thanks for any information you can offer. I appoligize for any type-o's, I'm posting this from my phone. Happy Camping.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 LEP100 wrote: Ok Guys this is not really a Mod but if something is not up to my standards it will bug me until is done and fix. So we went with the TB and added a wood dash kit. It really helps the plain looking dash.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics here Re: Photo Thread - Post Your PUP Pics HereOur first camper: 1897 Coleman Coumbia Last trip with the Coleman.
