Was just hoping it was some standard, universal type part. Thanks for the help! TomCInterior door jamb brokenThe passage door jamb is made of plastic and has broken on the door lock side. Are those available anywhere or does one fabricate a brace or replacement on your own? Any help is appreciated. Trailer model is in my signature. Thanks TomCRe: Any 12 valve Cummins guys left out there?I really like my '97. I have 313,000 miles on it now. Towing the 5th wheel I get 12-13 and non-towing 20-21 mpg. It is a good thing I like the truck as it is what I can afford in my retirement. For owners to be, I would much advise additional instrumentation like EGT gauge and transmission temp. gauge. TomCLap sealant removalI have to replace some uv damaged vents atop my 5th wheel with a rubber roof. Has anyone used one of the oscllating tools with the flexible blade to peel back the lap sealant on the vents? Putty knives work but slowly and can cut the roof if not careful. Any better ideas? Thanks TomCRe: What Type of Camper to Buy?Don't worry too much about the 6.2 diesel. By now you have had the injection pump rebuilt and gotten rid of the assinine rubber drive in the pump. If more power is needed, get a Banks turbo kit. The 6.2 engines are reliable enough with care given to keeping clean coolant. TomCRe: 97 cummins sucking airI want to replace the rubber lines at the tank on my truck but with the 5th wheel hitch stuff, a bigger pain than I want to pull the bed. This is easy with the hoist in my shop except... Oh well, probably will have to repair alongside the road one of these days.Re: tow vehicle update...2004 6.0 diesel??If the truck gets a good OASIS report, I would buy it. Then do as others suggested with fluid change and coolant flush. A coolant filter should then be installed. A bypass oil filter is also a good investment. FWIW TomCRe: Dodge transmissionInteresting information! I have heard that the CTD applications of the 47RE do better because of larger trans. cooler lines. Around here (So. Texas) 175,000 to 200,000 is good transmission life. This assumes good care of your stuff. TomCRe: Fifth hitch issueI had to do a tow or two with my hitch install. My rails were in the truck when I bought it but had a tough time settling the hitch into the rails. Loosening the bolts and using a deadblow hammer got them in. After towing a few times, all is well. I too have to tap out the pins at times. TomCRe: Truck Questions. Ford to ChevyIs your '94 a powerstroke or an IDI engine? If it is an IDI non-turbo engine, then a turbo kit from Banks or ATS is a good investment from my experience. A powerstroke can also be improved for a cost much cheaper than a new(er) truck.TomC
