Scottsdale is not very accommodating for RV's. 3708Re: Best Paint For Metal Floor Heat VentsIf it means that much to you which it did to me at the time, have them powder coated. When we had our 85 HR carpet redone the floor vents just looked like******so i took them to a powder coater picked out a color that matched the carpet and looked great to the day i sold it which was several years later.Re: Engine replacement 1992-1995 Holiday Rambler VacationerI feel your dismay, i'll give you the short version. I replaced a 454 on a 85HR and some of the same rules apply. 1.)Took the engine out the dog house thru the side door(would not do it this way again, engine to high very unsafe)don't know if this would even apply to your coach. 2.) Rebuilt the engine shoved it back thru the front grille/radiator area. What i did is got some 3/4 plate bolted it to the manifold(where carb. bolts on)with a eyelet and with a engine jack was able to put it thru the front, now if you still have a clearence problen leave your oil pan off till you get it into position and then install. 3.) This is the most important to me, irregardless how good your transmission seemed prior to this, replace your torque converter, its cheap insurance, believe me all my hard work was in vain because of this simple step i bypassed. Overview:Would i do it again? NO. Was i glad i did it then? YES. Did i learn somthing? YES. What did i learn? Don't do it again. My problem then was in 05, that i had a coach maybe worth 10,000 and they wanted 8,000 to do a turn key engine rplacement, i did it myself everthing brand new except Torque converter for 3,700 this was in 05. 3708Re: Pack RatsI find this topic interesting, i truley believe that if you set a engine by your MH a pack rat could swap it out quicker than a human with far less swearing. We stay at freinds in NE Washington in the fall which is about parellel to Libby and i can't believe the stuff that i find on my manifold, bolts, nuts, nails, unbelievable what they take from there barn and bring to my coach. I will try the Fresh Cab. Thanks 3708Re: Push button start towables not sure it applies to all !!I'm not sure who said what and when, but there some things you just can't make up especially when you don't have the knowledge of it in the first place, i'am a DIY'er for the most part until it comes to electrical then i have to find the best person for the job thru recomendations and have it done, which i did. Thanks to this forum and the comments made it prompted me to call Roadmaster (James)back and say look, i'm going to throw you under the Bus if i can't get some answers based on what people are telling me on this forum i belong to. 1. Will not having my lights on the Coach when towing mess up the computer in my 2014 Jeep from backfeed? Answ: Not to my knowledge, if you have the Diodes in place this will prevent any backfeed. 2.Then why must i drive with my Coach running lights on? Answ:The brakes will over ride the blinkers if you shoud use them at the same time if you have your lights on with the brake-lite relay in tact then with your lights on this will excite the relay and you will have a blinker in lieu of a brake lite on that side be it left or right. 3.So if a blinker is necessary in traffic could i momentarily flick my lights on for that option? Yes. In overview there is probaly several ways this could have been done, but i did not want separate lights or a light bar on the Jeep, i got it done to my satisfaction and in the seven years i towed with my previos Jeep i never had a issue with Diodes. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding and thanks to this Forum,Roadmaster i believe we have it corrected. Happy Holidays.....3708Push button start towables not sure it applies to all !!After loosing our 2006 Jeep Liberty (totaled)to a person that ran a red light in downtown Spokane last year we ordered a 2014 Jeep Trailhawk which we took possesion of in Feb. of this year. I was able to remove my SMI Brake system, the ram on the brake pedal, the tow bar and male part to the concealed brackets for the Roadmaster TB before leaving the vehicle at the salvage yard and heading home. After finally getting the brake system reinstalled on the new Jeep and the wiring for the brake lights, blinkers, taillights etc.. I was told by the installer that when towing the Jeep i have to hav the Running lights on the motorhome on all the time when towing as to energize the Brake-Lite relay so as not to backfeed from coach to Toad and take out the computer system on toad all due to the fact the Toad has a push button start,WOW!! What bothers me is not that i bought the car (I luv it) its the fact that if i forget to turn the lights on not Daytime lights but running lights i could burn the damn thing up(computer that is). Now i make notes i have a punch list prior to lift off and this is just one more thing but it just irks me that now i have to run the lights on all the time to tow this Jeep and i'm curious if it applies to all push button start cars or just JEEP. Now the installer said just parking lights on Coach but James at Roadmaster said light switch completely on to energize Brake-Lite Relay so as to not get feedback from Coach to car. Somebody may read this and say whats your point? My point is you may want to buy a Key start car for towing to avoid the hassel of the push button start car if it applies to other cars than Jeep.Re: Diesel prices finally falling !!Hey Brian FYI, Empier Liquors has Diesel for 2.79 looks like the cheapest in the nation, i know you know where its at right by the Post Office. The owner said OTR truckers have been coming in they like the .70 cents per gallon savings from FJ. Do a dry run with your car its tight but if you need a spotter give me a hollar i'll go with you.......3708Re: kwikee step issuesWell i got it working, and the reason why is these post, Monaco oregon, and just keep asking. First of all i keep trying to confuse the two magnets on the motor with the door jamb switch, the two on the motor are for the dash idiot light(step out). So when i cut the wire on the door jamb side the step came out, therefore it was not breaking current, took it out smacked it a couple of times, breaks current everthing works. So Chris you bring up a good point, when i install the new one which came with the unit i should have no more issues but why does the old one work now? older style motor!! maybe, somebody might say why change it if it works, well it has issues or i would not have had to smack it. If the new jamb switch works which it should, then i will consider it no blood no foul. Thanks to all. 3708..............The New One WORKS!!!!Re: kwikee step issues Gjac wrote: Did you perform the test to see if the controller was good or bad? No i did not, if your referring to fig. #10 in manuel not sure i have all necessary componets to perform, but working on it.Re: kwikee step issuesfischer i agree, and i do have the owner's manuel #888. but what puzzel's me is once you unplug the 4-way you have now isolated the step, doorjamb magnet switch, entry step switch, power module everything to do with that step from the vehicle side, excuse me the entry step switch does get power from vehicle side prior to the 4-way but i changed that with no luck.:h
