Yes it is 05.Prodigy P2 Brake ControllerI purchased a prodigy p2 brake controller and had it installed on my 2011 Nissan Titan in 2011. All went well except once in a while it would hang up and start flashing 05 when the trailer was not hitched up. I would hit the controller brake and it would stop. Recently it has been hanging up very often mostly when I cut off the ignition. (my quick reference card doesn't list 05 as a code). Can't find my controller owner manual. If I forget to check the trailer controller when I turn off the ignition it flashes until I start the truck which in the winter may be a week or more. Something is amiss and it is pulling on my truck battery. I am female, in my 70's and not mechanically inclined. Need some ideas so I don't get ripped off when I take it in. I will gladly buy a new controller IF that is the problem. I am thinking its a short. But I have no idea what the life expectancy of a brake controller is. I put about 10,000 miles annually hauling the trailer.Re: What are the pitfalls of camping in a Hybrid? We bought our first hybrid used in 2008. Loved it so much we bought a new one in 2012. We live in Colorado and that means bears. We camp 30 to 45 days a year in state parks and NFS hosted campgrounds. No problems with bears. We've only seen one bear in a campground and it left quickly with the host right behind it. If you plan on doing dispersed camping (public land no campground) you might have a problem especially if you leave food out or hang humming bird feeders. Bears love humming bird feeders. One came in our back yard in town after a humming bird feeder. Yellowstone does not allow canvas in some of its campgrounds due to bears. Yosemite probably should ban soft sides. Big bear problems there. Outside of that I don't know of any restrictions.Re: Hail DamageThanks to all. Trailer will be out of there 1st thing tomorrow morning. This is what happens when you put convenience and a rush to get on the road ahead of good sense. I've had trailers for years and had never heard of hail damage to a roof. I am female and 76 years old--mechanical I am not but I usually have my research done before I take on a service department. Angie's List, Better Business Bureau and USAA will hear from me. Revenge can have its own rewards. Maybe it will help some other RVer.Hail DamageI took my 20 foot North Trail in for it's yearly inspection. Went to a new place that had opened up near by. Had some bad vibes--sort of like walking onto a used car lot. But I left my trailer anyway. What can go wrong with an annual service check? Just got a call that I have hail damage to the roof. Could be. This is Colorado. But it is housed under cover most of the year. Can't remember any hail while we were out camping but am not certain. When the "salesman" said he could feel the hail damage in the wood under the roof and he would give me discounts on other work to off set the deductible I became suspicious. How common is hail damage to trailer roofs? He also attempted to charge me $500 for packing the bearings. We had a talk and he reduced it to $415--twice what I paid last spring. I declined the roof replacement. So my question is how worried should I be about my roof? We are leaving on a camping trip April 17.Re: Newbie needing adviceYou have gotten lots of good advice. Don't be discouraged. What seems to be causing the most concern and costing the most $$$ is wanting room in the back for the kids to move around. Is this really worth $14,000 to rent/buy a motor home? Many of the National Parks and other sites are very crowded with limited RV parking. Breaking camp every time you need wheels is a pain. The motor home will use more gas and you will have to drive slower especially at first. Many have recommended pop ups and that would be a good option. If you just don't want to tow what about tenting. You already have one. For long trips they have many advantages for young families. I am a 75 year old woman and for long trips I still prefer my tent over my camping trailer. Yes, my friends/family think I am nuts. But I love to be outside plus I love a bargain. Your investment in tent camping gear is less than $300 so if the weather is bad or you just get tired you can go to a motel or stop at a cool guest ranch or rustic cabin. You rarely need reservations for tent sites and you don't have to worry about getting an RV into a tight place. On a long fun trip like yours you don't want to be locked into a time schedule. During the summer months reservations are required in most of the places you are interested in visiting. Out west there are many National Forest campgrounds at $10 to $20. NFS cgs are great places for boys to unwind after a day in the car. Dogs are welcome also. And they usually have room for a tent even on weekends. On weekends you should try to get to the cg before 2PM in CO, AZ or near large tourist areas.Re: Sleeping bags vs. sheets & blanketsHi Pen, We have always used sleeping bags in our hybrids. We are on our second hybrid now. We camp 30 to 40 nights a year. You are so right. Putting sheets on is a waste of time and patience. When you break camp you just stuff the sleeping bag in its stuff bag and you are done. Putting it back on is a piece of cake. Just throw it up there and add the pillows. Takes about 2 minutes. I can't understand why anyone would mess with trying to make up a bed in a hybrid unless they have 4 arms and 2 of them are 5 feet long.Re: Help needed with Norcold N611 ProblemNorcold fridge is fixed. Took it out for 3 days and it worked fine on gas at 9000 feet. My RV techs adjusted the electrode and increased the gas flow--once they realized I was going to be blown off with the standard "It's the altitude" response. Noldcolds do work fine on gas above 5500 feet. Don't believe the smoke their action line and there owner's manual lays down. Thanks for the help.Re: Help needed with Norcold N611 ProblemThank you so much for your help. It was pretty much what the RV Repair place in Poncha Springs, CO told me. They couldn't work my trailer in while I was camping nearby and I couldn't follow the technical details over the telephone. What I took from the phone conversation was that sometimes the spark and the gas were too far apart and had to be adjusted. Now I have something more technical to tell the technician when I take my rig in Thursday. If my local RV Repair can't/won't look into this problem I will just have to schedule an appointment at Poncha Springs and haul my trailer the 100 plus miles to get it fixed.Help needed with Norcold N611 ProblemI have a 2012 North Trail (Heartland) with a Norcold Model N611 fridge. The refrigerator runs perfectly on electricity but only intermittently on gas. It is hard to start. It tries. You can hear it going "gulp, gulp gulp" then the green and yellow lights come on. Sometimes it will catch on the 2nd or third try and run for up to six hours before it cuts off and we have to start the process all over. Sometimes it won't start at all. If you leave it alone for a while it may start on the first try or it may not start at all even after several resets. When it runs it cools properly. I know nothing about fridges except how to open the door. The dealer says it is the altitude--something that was not mentioned when I brought the rig. My 2002 Cub's fridge never missed a beat even at 10,000 feet. Surely a newer model should do at least as well. I think the dealer is blowing smoke. Can't a fridge can be adjusted for the altitude? Water heaters and ovens can. I desperately need some ideas before I take the trailer in again. Does anyone have a Norcold that works on gas above 8000 feet? Has anyone else had this sort of problem with a fridge? Some suggestions using the appropriate technical terms would really help. Last time the technician didn't even listen when I did my gulp, gulp, gulp refrigerator impression. It was running on gas when I picked it up. I paid $90 for him to "vacuum" it out but when I took it camping 2 weeks later it worked no better.
