I replaced the serpentine belt and idler pulley and the noise is gone. Also check for broken exhaust manifold studs. A chronic problem with V10s. The broken studs could lead to exhaust leak noise. MikeRe: Checking Your E350 & E450 For Power-Robbing MistakeHere is a link to the official TSB from Ford: https://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/TSb/DownloadPdf?id=169332 Hope this helps. I discovered this problem personally on my 2010 E450. Properly moving the flap solved it. MikeRe: Ford E450 305 HP power increase - Banks EngineeringI have a 2010 Jamboree E450. While inspecting the engine under the dog house, I noticed I had several missing exhaust manifold studs. Researching the issue, I found that broken studs is a common problem on the V10s because of the size of the cast iron manifold and the changes in shape due to heating and cooling cycles. I counted about 8 missing studs. Called around to several shops that could possibly work in RVs to R&R the studs. The few places that were willing to work on the RV estimated $1500 to $2000 to perform the job. I said "What the hell" and called Banks to find out the cost for their header replacement. They gave a price of $2000 for their "Power Plus header" done in house. This was a solution I could accept. Did the job in a day. All is now good. Mileage about the same, performance slightly improved. No manifold leaks. MikeRe: Common Class C Break Downs & Maintenance IdeasAnother thing to look out for are broken exhaust manifold bolts. This is apparently a chronic problem with the V10 motors. Long cast iron manifolds attached to aluminum heads. Differential heating and cooling can pull on and break the bolts. Pull your doghouse out and check the bolts. My 2010 E450 Class C had 6 broken bolts with only 28000 on the clock. Calling around to RV repair shops I was quoted around $1500-2000 to make the repair. Lots of labor involved. Very little room to work in the van cut-away chassis. So to make things short, I cut my losses and took the RV to Banks in SoCal and had them install their cat forward header system for $2000. They have all the equipment to make the installation and as part of the install, they replace all the manifold bolts. Problem solved. MikeElectric cooling fan on Class CI currently have a 2011 Jamboree on an E450 chassis. I am interested in replacing the engine driven cooling fan for an electric fan. Removing the OEM fan takes away a horsepower drain to spin it. I have gone to all of the electric fan manufacturers to find a bolt-in replacement. None of them have one for my particular model: 2010 E450 chassis Super Duty with a V10. Doing research shows that the OEM fan is controlled by the ECM. None of the electric fan mfgs. show any compatible set ups for this model. Any suggestions? Mike
