Max load pressure on 5th wheel is 110 lb. I set tire pressure cold but should it be set first thing in morning or later when the day is warmer? Live in So Cal and day highs are in the 90's. Measuring tire pressure in morning can be four or five degrees lower than measuring same tire in the afternoon. How would you set the pressure?High capacity propane regulator vs regular?Hi guys, I may have done a bonehead thing here and I would like your opinions about it. My auto changeover regulator is about seven years old and the tank switch valve was virtually impossible to turn without massive force. I removed it from the 5th wheel and took it down to a local RV supply store and they sold me a high capacity auto changeover regulator as a replacement. Didn't realize the difference until after I installed it. The pigtails had red screw on connectors instead of the old regulator green ones. Everything seems to work fine but now I'm wondering if this MEGR-253H regulator is going to cause me any issues down the road. Mainly, is it safe to have a high capacity regulator in your RV if you really don't need the extra capacity? I know I paid a premium for the stupid thing but I already installed it. If it's going to be safe and not cause me any weird problems down the road, I'd just as soon leave it alone. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.Re: Fuel additive recommendation by CumminsSorry for confusion "Me Again", the turbo lubricity comment was from the blog I mentioned and after rereading the post the comment was refering to using additive back in '97. The post did mention it wasn't necessary for that same reason today, however he was curious why Cummins was now endorsing additives... "Are they seeing something in the diesel fuel that is concerning them. Is our diesel fuel not up to the standards that it is supposed to be and Cummins is trying to tell us something?" Just wondering myself.Fuel additive recommendation by CumminsA recent post on The Turbo Diesel Register mentioned that Cummins officially endorses Power Service Diesel Kleen and Diesel Fuel Supplement. I own a 2016 Ram 3500 Cummins Diesel with less than 20k on it. Never considered adding fuel supplements. The post didn't make a case for using or not using fuel additives one way or the other. Although, there were some good points brought up about low sulfur content of diesel fuel and the added benefit of increased turbo lubricity when using the additive. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this subject and if you diesel guys recommend using a fuel additive like PS Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost as endorsed by Cummins? Thanking you in advance for you posts, SmokeylewRe: Help preventing flat-spottingHey thanks for all the great advice guys. Not going to worry about the 5er tires. Never should have let the travel trailer sit so long. Lesson learned.Truck coversHi everyone, I have a 2016 Ram long bed crew cab that I park outside in the strong So. Cal. sun. Its covered when not towing my trailer but the darned cover has disintegrated after one year of use. Purchased it on line from Empire Covers. Came with a 7 year replacement warranty but I have to ship it back to Kentucky to get it replaced. Will cost $60.00 for shipping. Not worth paying half of original cost and waiting four to five weeks. Any suggestions on a good quality truck cover that will hold up to heat and strong sunlight? Thanks for any suggestions you might have.Security and door locksWondering what some of our seasoned campers are doing to secure their rigs against break-ins while out hiking or exploring areas away from the campsite. Standard RV door locks don't seem too secure to me. Especially if your out camping in the boonies. Thanks for your responseFront tire pressure for 3500 long bed pulling 5th wheelHave a 2016 Ram diesel long bed and pull a 36' NuWa 5th wheel. Haven't had the 5th wheel that long. Prior to this I pulled a heavy TT with an Egualizer hitch. Always put max air pressure in all 4 TV tires for towing. Weight distribution on TV is much different with 5th wheel. Door sticker on Ram states 60# for front and 80# on rear.. Can anyone with similar TV and 5th wheel combo advise what front tire pressure should be? I've been putting 74# in front tires while towing 5th just on gut feeling. Tires have max 80# on sidewall. Trailer is 12,300 unloaded. 15,500 max. ThanksRe: Tire rotation - what's best for towing?I have a 3500 Ram diesel longbed and run 80# in rear tires and 74# in front while towing. 74# is something I pulled out of the air because I wasn't sure what I should be running in front while towing. I run 60# all the way around when not towing. I've only recently been towing the 5th wheel. About 2,500 total miles. The rest of the mileage has been used towing a TT with a 1,000# of tongue weight. Same air pressure used for that setup. The difference in tread ware is noticeable to me because I'm looking for it but maybe not so if you were just casually or mildly interested (kind of a stupid sentence).Tire rotation - what's best for towing?Have 15,000 miles on a set of Firestone Transforce ATs. Rotated them at 7,500 miles and thought it time to do it again. Rear tires have more tread left than the front. I tow a 36' 5th wheel. Would it be better to leave the tires with more tread on the rear due to weight of 5th wheel over rear axel or go ahead and rotate the rears to the front? Tires are in good condition. Just wondering where best to keep the extra rubber. Thanking you in advance for your responses.
