It's small, electric at sites for 30A, water available at park locations but not at each site. You can see where they must have had some severe storm damage but have managed to clean it up nicely. Double walled fire pits, with grates, picnic table, lantern stand etc. Quiet times were just that, very quiet. We didn't have a fire since it was extremely hot during the day, and the fact that the baseball game was on the following night on XM. Didn't check out the bath house so can't report on that. The Camp hosts were friendly enough, and they cruised through making sure everything was as it should be. Mostly 5th wheels and a couple of Class C's, some sites looked too small for a lot of Class A's. Cell Service spotty, no WiFi, a great electronic downtime weekend. Elkins WV about 5 miles away with a variety of activities if you are so inclined. Nice older out of the way campground, just the way I like them. Next trip will probably be Senaca Shadows, they seem to be comparable. We drove through SS on the return trip to check it out. Worst part of the weekend was chasing/being chased by the thunderstorms, almost 4 solid hours of light and heavy rain etc. But well worth the time to get away.Re: To the guy pulling the trailer eastbound on I-64 today peaches&cream wrote: Gosh, I thought all lanes of the road were built to drive on. Did not realize you had to be "assigned" a specific lane. I have been passed on the left and on the right. Especially when on a 3 lane hwy. I usually stay in the middle lane at the posted speed limit. That way, when someone wants to merge onto the road, I do not interfere. Until laws are passed requiring people to stay right except passing, you are p***ing in the wind giving advise. :S In VA also, there are laws on the books about using the left lane for anything but passing. Georgia is trying to pass another law now that augments the existing one. Unfortunately, it seems that anymore, the right lane is for passing based on traffic flow I've seen. There was a time when the left lane was used for overtaking slower vehicles, as it should be, but it seems no one pays attention anymore to someone coming up behind them. Whether they are exceeding the speed limit or not does not matter. Left lane drivers enhance the possibility for road rage, and create a dangerous situation for the rest of us. I remember well when I got my license the rule was "Keep Right Except To Pass" and was instructed that on a multi-lane road the "far left" lane was for passing only.Re: special treatment Seamutt wrote: westernrvparkowner just where is the racist rant? Please clarify? I think you owe relaxin an apology for inferring he is racist. I suggest reading his post again without bias. If there was a rules violation, complain at that time. If they don't enforce the rules, there is not much you can do about it except vote with you feet and wallet and go elsewhere. I didn't see anything in those long diatribes that indicated the people's race or ethnicity had anything to do with why a site limit was not enforced. Any racial aspect was only in the OP's mind. Obviously they wanted to inject race into a rule enforcement issue. When that happens, the entire post loses credibility to me. Racists try to make every issue about race (from both sides I might add, racial groups other than Caucasians are just as guilty of making everything that happens be about race, when it isn't). Thank you. We often disagree on this forum-but you nailed this one. Thinly veiled Racist rant. dittoRe: special treatmentif it was anyone else bringing their brothers and sisters and their spouses and kids, they would have to rent an appropriate amount of sites, in the case of the one I just saw would be 3 sites so did they do it to save what would have been almost $200 on 2 extra sites for 2 nights, and is a race/culture card being played to get what they want as nothing was done about it??? Sounds like there is an undertone here in what you wrote. You reported it, they responded, life goes on. I've seen all kinds of rules violations by all kinds of people. I'd have to say whether you meant it that way or not, your post would have had more credibility if you just stated you observed a site with too many people on it. Just my opinion.Re: Va State Parks & Dog feesPertinent or not, as a life-long resident of VA, it is seldom that fees once instituted go away. I'm sure the "dog fee" is there for no reason but to increase revenue to the system. When you know good and well that the majority of pet owners are going to go camping with their pets, it makes fiscal sense to make a little extra money off of it so you can then pretend to repair roads.Re: Charging extra on service for non-locally purchased RVsso senior citizen discounts are suspect?Re: My "New" 1976 Midas Class Cthumbs up!Re: are you kidding me Ric Flair wrote: When you finally found it, did you say, "hello dolly!"? :C Excellent!
