All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsCamping Ski TripWe're trying to find an RV park (38' fiver) within a reasonable distance of a snow skiing area in the southeast - NC, TN, WV would all work (trying to stay within 6 hours of Savannah. Any suggestions? Thanks, ChuckRe: Extended Mirrors For 1/2 tonWe tried to get mirrors from 1aauto.com, but they asked for VIN then replied with "The mirrors that you need are; power glass, heated, with a turn signal, auto dimming, and power folding". We have a 2013 2500HD; anyone have other possible avenues? I didn't even know they had 'auto dimming'...Re: Old new Open RangeJust to update everyone; The old owner purchased in October of 2014, so technically the warranty is over (2 years). However, it IS indeed transferable to a 2nd owner. Have to have camper inspected by a certified dealer (not necessarily OR), and send them $250, within 15 days of purchase. I have about five days left, so I'm taking to a local dealer on Wednesday. Not sure if it will do any good encouraging them to do any work under warranty, but it's a step. I've been emailing back and two with someone in Open Range (Thor?) support who's been advising me, and I've left voicemails for both gentlemen referenced here (service manager and service advisor). I'm still not sure if I have delamination or frame flex. As mentioned, when I did the frame flex test, it seemed to be within tolerance. Hopefully, the inspection on Wednesday will nail this down. Any other suggestions or thoughts are welcome! Thanks for those who have advised so far! ChuckRe: Old new Open RangeHouseApe - thanks for catching that warranty note; we're a few months past the expiration, but it can't hurt to ask. That information came from the manufacturer, but it's obviously conflicting with the book. Carpetguy2 - that's not great news, especially since mine's NOT under warranty. Not sure how eager they will be to replace the sidewall on a camper six mints out of warranty, owned by a second owner, at their expense. Wagonqueen - I really don't know, but am getting out checked out. The wall doesn't sound hollow, there's no sign of any leak, and so on.Re: Old new Open RangeUnfortunately (a) OR warranty doesn't cover second owners (I was informed by them), and (b) I think the warranty was only one year... whatever fix has to be paid for, it's all mine!Old new Open RangeJust picked up a 2015 3x349rls. New to fivers, and traveled s long ways to get this one. I believe (operative word is 'believe') i got a good deal, but there are a couple of concerns I'd appreciate feedback on. First, there are cracks in the edge seal/ caulk on the roof. The corners are very poorly done, owner swore whatever was done was by dealer. I'm not terribly worried about those, just not sure whether to strip off and start clean, ourcaulk over. Pictures attached. The second is a much larger concern. I found a bubble about the size of a hand in the corner of the pin area, on the door side. Sent this to open range (heartland?), and got a pretty quick response that the tech was pretty certain this was frame flex, not delamination. He gave me a measuring test to try, and RV had to stay under 1/8" difference to pass. Measure between spot on pin and spot on jack while jacked and while hooked up on tow vehicle, weight off of jacks. It appears to be between 1/16 and 1/8. I'm thinking I should pull down to dick Gore and let them evaluate. Am I being overly cautious? Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any input! Chuck Link to photosBuy tires or notWe're going to pick up a used open range fifth wheel on Saturday. It's a 2014, and was purchased as guest room, never been on the road since delivery. The owner says that tires look perfect, no dry rot or other bad indicators, but I'm not sure what sitting for 2 1/2 years would do. Any thoughts?B&W vs. Blue Ox slider adaptor hitch for goose neckWe have a 2013 Silverado 2500 hd with b&w turnoverball gooseneck. We need a manual slide fifth wheel. We'd been referred to the b&w fifth wheel companion hitch, which I believe attached by replacing the ball unit. We have also seen a blue ox slider made for use with "any" goose neck hitch. Just wondered if either had an advantage in capacity, ease of use, warranty, quality, ride, etc. Thanks in advance!Re: Mounting TV in 2012 Roamer 266RLSI have to hand it to the Open Range guys at Jayco (I assume that's who's answering the phone now). Apparently when the company changed hands, all of the plans for the models prior to 2012 didn't make it online. However, the gentleman I spoke with went to engineering and found someone who produced a paper copy. He made a copy of the relevant area for me (showing the TV mounting board), and emailed it to me. We're mounted and all set!Mounting TV in 2012 Roamer 266RLSI'm trying to mount a TV in the bedroom of our Roamer, and it's driving me nuts! We're new to RVs in general, and I'm a bit leery of drilling holes in places I don't fully understand. The bedroom is obviously set up for a TV, as there's a power outlet and coax outlet in the front of the bedroom near the outer wall. I used a stud finder, but couldn't locate but one thing in that area of the wall, and it's about 4-6" away from the outlet. I nailed a finish nail into the area just to check it out, and it hits something hard - hard enough to bend the nail. I didn't think this model had metal studs, but there's certainly something there that's not wood. Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome!
