Is there a known issue that someone may have a solution I could try. I had been using VMSPC from the J1939 diagnostic port and thought that maybe this had interferred with the use of the Medallion panel. I disconnected the plug from the J1939 port and the keypad is still inoperable. Any ideas?? 2009 Holiday Rambler ScepterRe: Painful Night Rather Than Waste It = Rough Number CrunchingBeen following this topic since it started and it has evolved into a rather interesting discussion on electric utility generation and distribution. There seem to be those who are certain that the power they get is green because there is wind and solar farms in their State or surrounding area. Wind and solar are only possible of supplementing a portion of any utilities system. When there is no wind or a heavy cloud day your power will come from coal, natural gas, nuclear, or hydroelectric generation and it doesn't matter what you utility produces. There are many power pools throughout North America and power is a commodity that is traded daily, even hourly. It is quite normal for a utility whose main source of power is water - hydroelectric to purchase cheap overnight coal and nuclear power from producers in the pool as it is not possible to start/stop these generators when power generation is not required in the local grid. This allows these hydro utilities to save water for peak loads during the day and sell any surplus at a rate generally higher then what they paid overnight. One other problem is transmission bottlenecks which is why some areas are subject to brownouts or even rolling blackouts as a worst case. The ability to increase the import or export of power relies new transmission facilities and new transmission line right of ways are subject to opposition and blockades in some areas. Just a comment on baseboard heaters, they are close to 100% efficient as they are noting but a resistor. Cost of operation is totally dependent on the cost of other heating options relative to electricity. Then again maybe I don't know what I'm talking aboutRe: valid air leveling fuseNo luck with that fuse location. I checked every fuse that could have anything to do with leveling and they are all good. What puzzles me is that every fuse location has a fuse so it is difficult to guess where else to look. Hopefully someone else with the same 09 Holiday Rambler Scepter has another idea. Thanksvalid air leveling fusePrevious owner of my 2009 Holiday Rambler Scepter removed the fuse for the valid air leveling compressor because it was running to often. I would like to try to rectify the problem however I cannot locate the fuse. All the fuses in the main electrical bay, front drivers side appear to be installed and the fuse diagram does not list a recognizable item. I cannot find another location where the fuse may be or a reference in the owners manual. Thanks in advance for any assistance.Re: Attn Canadian snowbirdsThe fact is you are still using your provincial health care system if you require the use of the snowbird insurance you have purchased. The insurance provider, in my case RBC Insurance will go after every penny they can before using their premiums collected. I suffered and injury 2 years ago and they got $2500 from my retirees Blue cross plan, which happens to be my lifetime max for out of country medical expenses and then they claim from the province up to what the province deems the equivalent expense for treatment if the injury took place at home. They then come to an agreement with the service provider on the percentage of the bill they are willing to pay. When I arrived back in Texas last year I had a bill from a collection agency for the percentage that wasn't paid by RBC. This is just an attempt to collect more money. After several phone calls to RBC, collection agency and a visit to the billing department at the hospital I was assured that the bill collector notice would be taken care of by them. All is good now.Re: Automatic satelliteThe winegard definitely picks up all 3 Shaw Direct sats. The further south you go the more HD channels in the 001 - 299 range will be lost. Not a big issue because all of the channels are still available in SD. Here in Canada I get all the same channels on the trav'ler as I receive in the houseRe: Automatic satelliteWe finally decided to get the Wingard this spring and realized it was something we should have done years ago. Tripod wasn't really that big of a pain as long as you were going to be staying put for at least a few days but gets tiring if traveling. We will still carry the tripod in case we end up in a situation where tree cover necessitates setup. Did have to lower it during the big winds in Lethbridge in April but that was only a few hours. Bought ours in Quartsite and with the dollar in late March it was slightly less than we would have paid at home. With todays exchange I would imagine it would be a less money to do it in Canada.Re: ISL Exhaust Manifold Leak - How far can I drive it?Smitty77, consider yourself very fortunate to have found a decent shop. I had a warped exhaust manifold replaced in Tucson and was hosed $2225 for labor and $767 for parts last APRIL. This did include time to replace a rusted drain valve on the rad found when attempting to drain the antifreeze and replacement of the coolant line from the head to the turbo which broke during removal. Only one broken bolt an cylinder 3 to extract.Re: What is a reasonable maintenance wait timeIt could be the charging solenoid isn't latching so the alternator is not sending a charge while driving. Easy enough for the shop to check. Connect a voltmeter to both sides of the solenoid and start the engine. If the voltage is not the same on both side solenoid is not latching. Any competent tech should know this and it is the first thing to check. Could also be a fuse.Re: Secure internet access?I am also from Canada and am probably going to pick uo a T-Mobile 4G hot spot from Walmart. For $50 you buy the device and get 5 gigs of data good for 3 months. Refills from Walmart are good for 60 days and you can buy 5 gigs for $50. No contracts, let your time run out and reload when you go down the next year.
