rdhetrick, sorry for the confusion,but, I had to replace my '13 Equinox last week. I bought a new Equinox after confirming that it can be dinghy towed. In the manual there is a blurb that reads "Use of a shield mounted in front of the vehicle grille could restrict airflow and cause damage to the transmission. Repairs would not be covered by vehicle warranty. If using a shield, only use one that attaches to the towing vehicle." I basically believe the wordage is legal-beagle B.S., but I can interpret "in front of" a couple different ways. The Kargard gets mounted to the tow bar arms and appears to be approx. l0" in front of the grille, and the Blue-Ox towbar is attached to the rig, so, in essence, the shield is attached to the towing vehicle. That's a good question, but it's probably easier to put an on/off switch for the fuse. My '13 Equinox needs only one fuse disabled to tow. I made my own fuse with an on/off switch, but you can buy the unit now. I've towed three Chevys since 2002 with a Brake Buddy and never had a battery problem, longest day towing was 10 hours.190Views0likes0CommentsRe: Trickle charger suggestion
Thanks to all for the info and suggestions. The new facility I'm going to use is a 7 day/16 hour per day unlimited access, climate controlled, security coded warehouse. After weighing all or your responses, I've decided to plug the rig into their 110V outlet, same as I do at home between trips, then check the monitor after a couple of weeks to get readings. Getting ready for the upcoming storage season in a couple of months, I need info on trickle chargers. I'm storing my rig in a new facility this upcoming season, it's climate controlled that has 110v electric outlets. My rig has (2) 12v chassis batteries, and (8) 6v house batteries. We have a 2015 DutchStar, the 2 captain seats were nasty when I bought it used in March 2020 with just over 16,000 miles on it. The rest of the furniture(2 recliners, couch, and dinette booth were decent but had wear on the seam piping. The maker of my seats was Villa, I was told the original owners of rigs from late 2014 to early 2016 were given an opportunity to get replacements, me being a second owner was SOL. I asked Newmar what the cost would be get new replacement seats, they said $3,500.00/ea., or they could supply new exact-fit covers that I could install myself for $2,800.00/ea., obviously Newmar really likes their seats. Long story short, I found an upholstery shop within 25 miles of home that recovered both captain seats and the both recliners for a VERY good price using a marine grade material that darn near matches the original seats.769Views0likes0Comments
