I'm really getting quite an education from your inputs.First time I've seen Jackery offered at CostcoI was at Costco today in Hawai'i (Waipio location) and saw Jackery offered here for the very first time ever. The Jackery Explorer 1500 is being offered with 2 100W Solar Panels for $1899.99. I don't know if this is a good price or not but, generally speaking, things normally cost more here than on the mainland. Can anyone weigh in on whether this is a good deal or not?Re: More garbage that'll get us ALL banned from National Forests NRALIFR wrote: “ Some have said, well, it's not US, so we shouldn't be held responsible. They HAVE and WILL continue to close areas where cleanup, particularly of abandoned vehicles, hazardous materials, and homeless encampments have forced a redirection of scarce funding that could have been put to better use. ” That depends on how pervasive the problem is, and how uncooperative the squatters are. I’ve seen a few of those trashed areas, and they aren’t anyplace I desire to go as long as they’re being trashed. If the only way to keep those areas from being trashed is by closing them, then I favor closing them. If issuing citations and fining the ones doing this doesn’t stop the behavior, what else can you do but close the area? There’s a legal term for areas that for whatever reason are magnets for bad people and bad behavior. They’re called an “attractive nuisance”, and once a particular area gets known as a place where anything goes, then it’s no surprise that everything goes on. Once that happens, the only way to stop it sometimes is to close it down. Maybe I read more into your wording of the topic subject, but it seemed to me that there was some fear that ALL forests would be closed to the public because of a few filthy pigs squatting in a few areas. That’s what I meant when I said this will not result in the forests being closed to all. The sad fact is, the people doing the trashing of these areas are not on this forum, or any other RV forum. I’m as against this type of behavior as you are, but unfortunately you’re preaching to the choir here. :):) Kevin, I meant all of US, NOT all of the National Forests. We're both on the same page.Re: More garbage that'll get us ALL banned from National ForestsThank you to all who have commented. Some have said that the Forest Service needs to better enforce squatting and the 14-day limit, some laying some of the responsibility upon the USFS. When is the last time you actually saw a USFS Ranger on patrol? These guys are stretched much too thin and cannot possibly undertake the gargantuan task of patrolling all roads on a regular basis. That is why they need YOU to report what you observe. The sad fact of the matter is that the USFS has neither the BUDGET nor the manpower to enforce these rules in an effective manner to deter such activity. My wife and I spend a considerable amount of time exploring the backroads of the Bridger-Teton National Forest and surrounding areas. We have observed appalling examples of littering, vandalism, dumping of vehicles, tires, general household trash, yard debris, ad nauseam. Some have said, well, it's not US, so we shouldn't be held responsible. We might not be the source of the problem but we will ALL pay the price for others' disregard for the rules. The attitude that the USFS could never put a ban on dispersed camping is dead WRONG. They HAVE and WILL continue to close areas where cleanup, particularly of abandoned vehicles, hazardous materials, and homeless encampments have forced a redirection of scarce funding that could have been put to better use. And once this happens, the odds of getting these areas reopened ranges from slim to none.More garbage that'll get us ALL banned from National Forestshttps://www.eastidahonews.com/2021/11/man-found-guilty-after-leaving-trash-broken-down-vehicles-at-campsite/ A picture is worth a thousand words. With ever more people doing the "Free Camping" thing, come more idiots who will ruin it for EVERYONE. EDIT: Fixed the link for you.No Overnight Parking in one Rapid City, SD, WalmartI went to the Rapid City, SD, Walmart at 100 Stumer Road last night to pick up some groceries for the road and noted the following sign upon entry: "No Camping or Overnight Parking". Just an FYI for planning purposes. There is also a 2nd Walmart in Rapid City at 1200 N. Lacrosse St. I do not know what their overnight parking policy is but I will be watching out for any signs posted if I happen to pass that way. The Cabela's, at 3231 E. Mall Drive, remains overnight RV-friendly according to a Van-Lifer I spoke to 2 days ago who had overnighted there the night before.Re: "Wild West RV Trip"Very overly ambitious itinerary. You'll be doing nothing but driving, making and breaking camp constantly, in a mad dash to hit the next attraction. That isn't my idea of fun. You either want quality or quantity, what's it going to be? It's your vacation. Relax and enjoy it, I say. That's my 2 cents. Be sure to hit Mammoth in Yellowstone to hit the elk rut that time of year in September, but enjoy from a DISTANCE ONLY. For kicks, you can sit back and watch other people blatantly disregarding all the warnings they have repeatedly been given, approaching the bulls, camera in hand, trying their best to be "stealthy" and get that shot of a lifetime. YOU just might get lucky to get YOUR shot of a lifetime when those bulls have had enough of their intrusion.Re: Rotella T6, $5.40 a gallonArnold, I got on the Tractor Supply website and ordered in a 2.5 gallon jug of Shell Rotella T6, regularly priced at $54.99. Combined with a "Honey" coupon of $5.00 off, it brought the cost down to $49.99. I then took advantage of your link to the Shell Rebate page, entered my info and uploaded my Tractor Supply receipt, then submitted the form for a $17.50 rebate. That brought my total cost down to $32.49. That's $23.51 that I saved had I bought it instead at Walmart! I would never have even been aware of this good deal if you hadn't made your post. Granted, I wasn't able to secure an incredible deal such as yours, but I STILL saved a ton of money. I'm grinning like the proverbial Cheshire Cat. Thank you!Re: Rotella T6, $5.40 a gallonHere's another Cheapskate Report... Walmart has raised it's prices on Shell Rotella Full Synthetic T6 recently. A gallon has increased to $22.47. I found it on sale at O'Reilly's last week for $21.99, good until March 26. The 2.5 gallon size at Walmart is now $56.00. I found it last Friday at Tractor Supply, regularly priced at $54.99.Re: Is this Solar System a good deal? Thanks, all, for your responses and advice so far. It is really helpful for this guy who is totally out of his element here as far as Solar Power goes.
