You would want to turn off your built in converter (battery charger) when doing this. You would also want to make sure your refrigerator and water heater are set to gas and not electric. It sound like you've done this and don't have power. That's just basic troubleshooting. Check for power at the inverter, check for power at the dog bone adapter, check for power in the RV breaker panel, etc. You do have a volt meter I hope. If not this is a useless exercise. Thanks, A circuit breaker label says converter. If this is turned off dose not that mean that I'm bypassing it? I have power to all the items you mention when on shore power. I'm trying to bypass the built in converter because my inverter is now providing 120V, but not to my receptacles.Re: Inverter Install? I did not plug the shore power cord to the inverter. I had heard the converter would be trying to charge the batteries and I should turn off the circuit breaker. The inverter is working because I ran an extension cord to the TV and 1880W hair dryer independently and they worked perfectly. I noticed the previous owner had circuit breaker labels for "conv" and "batchg". I assumed the built in converter automatically did the charging when needed. I assumed by the label of the previous owner must have had a separate battery charger.Re: Inverter Install?2oldman Thank you, what I'm trying to do is emulate shore power(120V) whilst boon docking purpose. My batteries will be charged with my solar system. My inverter is not a charger. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.Inverter Install?I have a 2000W inverter and wish to use it in my trailer but have questions. I assume that when the inverter is connected to the batteries, any A/C item plugged to the inverter will be energized. My trailer has an outside shore power receptacle meant to be connected to power supply from a trailer park. A dogleg RV adapter from the trailer,is then connected to the inverter by a heavy duty extension cord. This allows me to bypass the supplied power Am I not now duplicating the A/C from the campground? If so, why don't my A/C outlets work in the trailer:@ I am not electrically versed and am at a total loss. Thanks for any help.Re: Fifth wheel hitch questionsI recently switched to the Andersen ultimate 5th wheel hitch. So smooth when pulling, no clanking very easily installed and removed. It only weighs a bit over 30lbs. I had a Reese slider and had to use a hoist to remove it,because of this it stayed in the bed of my truck all the time! The Andersen can be removed in less than 3-4 minutes. I kid you not!! If you get one you will not be disappointed .Re: Pulled 7way plug out of truck. Mike LeClair wrote: I would be inclined to start at the vehicle plug and test for 12V current on the brake wire output. It seems to me that the wiring in the TV plug can be "fragile" and subject to become damaged from a sudden jarring. Next up would be to check the continuity of the brake wire in the RV harness by using a tester, one probe in the kink pin box and the other on the appropriate pin of the harness. Good Luck Cheers! Mike Thanks Mike, When you say "TV"plug, is that the trailer vehicle your referring to? If so, I don't have a plug just a bunch of wires in what I call a junction box inside the kingpin housing assembly. Do you know what color the brake wire would be?Re: Pulled 7way plug out of truck. jerem0621 wrote: The Voyager XP should be lighting up. It actually changes colors depending on how much braking power is being sent back to the trailer. I would start at the trailer connector and inspect the wiring. Its not Rocket Surgery and is pretty easy to trace the wires and find the break. If you need to replace the brake controller look at the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, P3, or the Primus IQ. They are fantastic brake controllers. Thanks! Jeremiah Thanks Jeremiah, The controller never lights up. Will it light up when the trailer is not connected to the truck via the long black cord? I wish I had the proper terminology, then I could better understand how to describe items. When you say "trailer connector" is that the grey box tucked up inside and under the kingpin housing assembly where all the wires connect from the long black cord?Re: Pulled 7way plug out of truck. heaterswa wrote: Stuff happens. Do you think the brakes were working before pulling away connected? I would think if the lights and turn signals are all working then you just pulling away would not make an impact to the brakes only. Which brake controller are you using? My Prodigy would let me know where I am at. -Bryan Yes the brakes worked perfectly prior to getting this different truck. It has a voyager xp controller. By the way, the small light on controller never lights up. No current? dunno.Pulled 7way plug out of truck. In a hurry, got distracted and pulled away from my trailer with the cord attached. The cord was stretched at the electrical box in the king pin assembly. I removed the box cover plate to see if there were any broken wires and did not see any. All lights work but now I have no trailer brakes. This is a used truck but is new to me. I just bought it and noticed that it had a new controller installed. I don't know if it was installed correctly or not. I am going to try to isolate/determine if the problem is at the truck or the trailer. I'm not much of a mechanic but will try to use a test light. The previous owner was a veterinarian so he probably had the controller properly put in so I'm thinking I have probably damaged the wires some where inside the box. What do you folks think?Rusted wheel rims ?Hello, Have some rust spots on my 5th wheel rims. I really don't want to paint them so have been thinking of some sort of "Snap in place" decorative wheel covers that would look nice and stay put in place. Has anyone used these? If so how did they work out and where are they available? Thanks for any help.
