I also like having water in my fresh tank for emergencies (like earthquakes and stuff)Re: sanitize fresh tank / drought Old-Biscuit wrote: WHY do you need to sanitize fresh water tank :H I only sanitize when I first buy the rig..........new or used. Next time if ever is because I have ACTUALLY gotten bad water. Otherwise......WHY :H My fresh tank has been sitting for a few months with water in it and the temps get over 100 here in the summer. I'd rather be safe than sorry. westend and wing_zealot thanks for the ideas to reuse the water .... I didn't think of thatsanitize fresh tank / droughtI need to sanitize my fresh tank but we are in a severe drought here in So. Cal. I don't want to waste water or get a serious ($$$) fine for using too much water. Is there a way to sanitize my fresh tank and waste very little water?? My fresh tank is 100 gallons.Re: WW fresh tanks Trackrig wrote: Use reducers down to 1" - that's probably twice the size of the garden hose you're using to fill the tanks. 1.5" tubing Another 1.5" tubing Another 1.5" tubing Another 1.5" tubing. Bill I just ordered a piece of this with a 2" ID. The current hard pipe is 1.92" OD. I'm hoping that's close enough for a good seal. I also ordered a pair of hose clamps. Hopefully I'll get the parts by the weekend!Re: WW fresh tanks arhayes wrote: Would Pex tubing not work? Not sure about reducers, etc as it typically is not that large. Pex should work but I would like to try and find a way to connect the larger pipe first. This way when I fill the fresh tank I won't have to wait for the 2 tanks to level out. If I did go with Pex, any suggestions on what fittings to use so it would be sturdy / reliableRe: WW fresh tanks Y-Guy wrote: This might be worth a call to the So Cal RV Doctor, a lot of WW owners rave about them. I can't comment from personal experience, just reading the posts about them over the years. I'll have to give them a call. Thnx!Re: WW fresh tanksI've looked before but the inside diameter of the flexible hose isn't even close to the outside diameter of the hard pipe. That would be my preferred method, but would also consider plumbing in new fittings to the fresh tanks and connecting them with a smaller hose. I don't know how I would add fittings to the fresh tank that would be reliable (wouldn't want to accidentally dump 100 gal of water while boon docking in the desert)WW fresh tanksMy WW has (2) 50 gal fresh tanks. They are ABS and joined by 1 1/2 (?) hard pipe. I have a leak caused by the 2 tanks being joined by the hard pipe that I fixed with Plasti-mend. The flexing between the 2 tanks killed that fix and it's leaking again. I would like to join both tanks with some kind of flexible tubing (?) that is fresh water safe. Any suggestions on what to use (tubing, hardware, etc) and possibly where to find the parts?Re: Plasti-mend Camorhino wrote: I've seen some use regular "Bondo" type plastic fillers with success. Just rough up the receiving surface really well, and use some screen for re-inforcement if you have big gaps. Did you strike the plumbing with something, or is the tank jumping around in the mounts? You might want to address that also. I put 1" nylon webbing over the top of mine in a couple of places to those T shaped tanks didn't hop up and down when empty. I love those big drains, but they don't have much flexibilty over rough terrain and the forces between 2 separate tanks. I don't think the tanks are moving much, but I figured the hard pipe between the 2 tanks was causing the crack. I was toying with the idea of separating the tanks with using 2 separate drains and maybe a more flexible pex line to join the two.Re: Plasti-mendI'm going to try the test they suggest on their web site to see if the tank is ABS or polyethylene. If it's ABS I'll get the Plasti-mend otherwise I'll try the thermal plastic welding. I had a local RV shop plastic weld my front cap when it cracked and it came out great.
