Sawnee (south side) and Bolding Mill (north side) are going to be open all year. We stayed at Bolding Mill last weekend and it is really nice with very friendly hosts, who are all volunteers.Re: Buying our first FW tomorrow-advice?I am happy to share that we bought a 2014 Cruiser 335ss yesterday! We will have the hitch installed and pick it up on Friday! Thank you for all of your advice. We are really looking forward to some great fall camping!Re: Buying our first FW tomorrow-advice?What is the value/purpose in the slide awnings? To help with heat in the slides or so that the leaves are easier to deal with? As for the fireplace it seemed logical to have some electric heat instead of using as much gas, plus the ambiance of the fireplace. We will still have a campfire most nights!Buying our first FW tomorrow-advice?We are planning to purchase our first RV tomorrow! I think we'll get the Crossroads Cruiser 305sk. What should we expect tomorrow? It comes with a 2 + 5 warranty but I assume they'll try to sell us an extended warranty. The dealership is about an hour from our house and there is a Camping World about 20" from here. Should we get a warranty so that repairs can be made at Camping World? Camping World doesn't seem to specialize in Crossroads products. We like the dealership that we're buying it from and we could take it there if that's what's best. Do you think that the awnings over the slides are important? They can be added. We are thinking of adding a fireplace-is it worth $800? As far as the pin, etc...for the truck/FW, should we have the dealership do it or shop around for better prices? Of course we are anxious to drive it home but are willing to do what you all suggest. Thank you so much! This is all such an educating experience!Re: Towing a 5th Wheel with F250Wow, Road Runners, your map is very impressive! How wonderful that you've been to every state! Does that mean you have camped in every state? Thank you for your comment.Towing a 5th Wheel with F250We are considering a 2012 F250, Diesel, 6.7L, V-8, 3.55. According to Ford specs, limit for towing a 5th Wheel is 15,200. The FW that we are considering has a dry weight of 9090, and a GVWR of 12,305. We will be doing weekends and some week long trips but not full time so we won't be packing heavy. It seems to me if we maxed out our FW at 12,305 then that leaves us nearly 3000 pounds for passengers (sometimes 4 adults), the FW pin and whatever else we put in the truck. Does that sound correct?Re: 5th wheel or TT?I think it is just leveled. It is 44" from the ground to the top of the wheel well and 57 1/2" from the ground to the top of the truck bed. Does that help clarify it? Also, the salesman at the Crossroads dealership called me today and said that the 2013 FW model, 305sk, has been reduced even more. Now the FW and TT that we like are within about $1500 difference in asking price.Re: 5th wheel or TT?Thank you all SO much for your help. There is so much to learn! Now I have another question and maybe I need to ask it on a different thread, but...we found a 2012 F250, 6.7L Power Stroke 4V Diesel V8, 3.55 electronic axle, FX4. It has been lifted, I'm not sure how many inches but I can get in by stepping on the sidestep. Is this a good thing or a bad thing for a FW or TT? The crew cab tows 14,000 lbs in the F250 or F350, and 16,000 for a Fifth Wheel. In the specs it says payload is 3,290 lbs. We definitely do not want to go up to a Dually.
