All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Need GS ESP to answer question pleaseSo after talking with an agent. Here is what they are claiming. "You have to have purchased the additional coverage, to cover a non-covered item". So in this case, had I purchased an additional coverage, that I knew nothing about, then they would cover the battery because it was destroyed by the wiring that they said "you claim was run incorrectly", I explained that I didn't claim it, CW does... Its a crappy way to do business in my opinion. I'm still waiting to see if they are going to cover the burned up underbelly and repair the fire damage to the battery compartment!Re: Fire in the 12VDC system MrWizard wrote: I know i would like 'full coverage' of all expense involved but i think i would not make to big an issue about the cost of the battery in my line of thinking, it falls into my car was damaged in a crash and they don't want to pay for the spilled gas the cost of the battery versus the cost of the other repairs I would consider this, as write off the battery as my loss, Have you priced batteries lately? I appreciate your input. But, I didn't do anything wrong. So yes, the warranty company should make good on this. They accepted the responsibility of this when they took my money.Re: Fire in the 12VDC system time2roll wrote: Could you pinch some #6 to the frame just right to make fire without tripping a 50 amp breaker? Doubt it would be easy. Probably take a bit of practice. It had a self-resetting breaker at the battery. Breaker obviously failed also.Re: Fire in the 12VDC systemMy camper is currently being repaired and covered by GS ESP. CW did find the cause of the issue. The 12V positive feed was inadvertently run between the floor and the frame when the camper was built. The issue I am having is that ESP does not want to cover the cost of the battery. They say batteries are not covered by the warranty. I understand they are not covered if they just go bad. Batteries are a consumable item, like tires. But this wasn't a battery issue. The battery caught on fire because of the wiring issue. I have posted in the GS ESP forum. https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29396788/p/1.cfmNeed GS ESP to answer question pleaseMy camper is currently under repairs at CW of Biloxi, MS. The 12V wiring burned up. The CW technician found the problem. The 12 positive feed wire was pinched between the camper frame and the floor. Over time the wire shorted to the frame. This burned up all of the 12V supply lines, and a lot of the 12V distribution lines (lights, brakes etc.) and it caused the battery to explode and catch fire. ESP authorized replacing the wiring only. They are refusing to replace the battery. I understand there is a clause excluding batteries from the warranty. That is to keep ESP from replacing dead batteries every 5 years, which are a "consumable item" and understandable. Not to exclude the battery because of a manufacturer's wiring issue that caused a fire and the battery to explode. I would like to speak to someone from GS ESP about this please. Thank youRe: Control your expectations!Outstanding post!Re: Jerky bounce over bumps, 2005 F350 dieselI put air bags on my 2000 f250. It solved most of my chucking issues.Re: Fire in the 12VDC systemI just got the call from CW in Biloxi. The warranty company has approved replacing the wiring in my camper. But NOT the battery.... The service agent at CW is shocked they approved the repair because they can't determine the exact cause. The wiring is burned from the battery to the converter. The feed wires and a lot of the distribution wires. From what I could tell, the 12V feed wires were run with the distribution wires. They appear to have been loosely zip-tied to the metal cross members of the frame. It appears to me the 12V positive feed wire grounded to the frame causing the wire to get hot and catch fire. Why the protection devices at the battery didn't prevent this is a mystery.Re: Fire in the 12VDC system Old-Biscuit wrote: jamnw wrote: I have an appointment with CW in Biloxi, MS on July 24th. I have the Good Sam Extended Service Plan. Should I go ahead and call the warranty company or wait for CW to do this? Experienced answers are greatly appreciated. Don't those 'extended service contracts' REQUIRE prior authorization??? YOU need to be 'LEAD' on getting authorizations be it 'service contract' or Insurance coverage The contract says "Take the unit to the repair facility." then "Obtain priory's authorization prior to any repair being made." I would say your are 100% correct that I should call them first.Call in Claim now or Wait for CW Service DeptI am taking my 5th wheel camper to a CW store in Biloxi, MS (have appointment on July 24th) for what I believe may be a warranty repair. Should I go ahead and get a warranty claim started now, or wait for the CW service department to make the warranty claim?
