All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Remote control trailer moversI'm still thinking that these things might be a great solution for getting into tight older campsites. Plus at home. Anyone with any experience using them?Re: Height IssueAny solution found? Low cost? I was thinking that the door could maybe be raised on the inside with a filler piece added to the bottom. Maybe even a wooden 2x6. Depending on clearance when open, adding a 2x6 filler piece to the top might work. Then heavily reinforce (scrap steel?) and notch the header to allow the a/c unit to pass through it.Re: diesel or gas motorhome or 5th wheelWe're thinking of going from a trailer to a fithwheel to shorten up the overall length so we can go more places. Older campsites, etc. but then we add height. Anyway, those with dogs and kids face the issue of what to do with the dogs. (SUVs provide room for crates in the back.) So we're thinking a motorhome might be the answer.GMC Rollover in movieExcerpt: "It's insane, there's no way we could get it to roll," says McKay. "It's just such an oddly shaped vehicle." "We really had to find the right .... Thank God." http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/12/23/ron-burgundy-rv-motorhome/4173441/Re: Height IssueCould you pull the wheels right off and do something with the hubs? Maybe get some sort of custom made minimum diameter wheels made or something that would slide or roll on rails situated under the axle(s) once the wheels are off.Re: Remote control trailer moversJoshua, thanks so much for providing your real world experience! Anything else you could add would be greatly appreciated. Since several companies and multiple models exist I think there must be a number of users out there. (In Europe). Maybe we're get more postings on these from users and any tricks they've employed. The tongue wheel problem sounds like something $50 given to a welder would solve. (Maybe random wheels on a second jack?) The safety issues are another concern if you're parking and unhooking on a slope which I do and which makes me very nervous every time. I chock and use a X-chock screw stabilizer. I don't think I'd ever try to use any of these powered units on anything but the mildest of slopes. The power caster looks like a cool solution too. I'd looked at their site but was attracted to the wheel mount model because they are out of the way and don't take up storage space.Re: Decal free trailers - photos? - alternatives?Yeah I don't think plain white is the way to go. However the swooping decals on mine make me think of the old tail fins and wood grain styling used on cars years ago. Another fad that will run its course. Maybe a nice paint job is the way to go.Decal free trailers - photos? - alternatives? So our 2008 trailer's decals are all looking very, very rough, peeling, cracking and fading and I'm wondering if just going decal free wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm not keen to have them replaced if the problem might return in a year or two. Life is too short for little issues like this. So does anyone have pics or thread links for the clean, pure white look? ... Or maybe I should upgrade our trailer and give it a new brand name and new decal scheme. :-) ... Or has anyone gone to a paint shop and for a reasonable sum 'upgraded' the appearance of their trailer?Re: Decals are peeling off the RaptorThe same supplier must have provided the decals for Spree as well. Almost all the decals on our 2008 trailer are looking incredibly rough. Peeling, cracking and fading quite dramatically. I'll have to raise the issue with the dealer and see if we should just strip the whole thing and go pure white. It's too bad, we love the trailer. it's been great, but as is, cosmetically, it's sure not good for their brand's image.Re: Remote control trailer moversThey do sound very capable... "The Powrtouch All Wheel Drive Twin axle caravan mover drives all four wheels of the caravan. This allows for it to be used on a steep slope, turning uphill or on uneven ground (where the drive wheels may lift off the ground). This model will fit the majority of all twin axle caravans. The All Wheel Drive unit is comprised of two Powrtouch units which are positioned both in front and behind the caravan wheels and which are wired to work simultaneously."
