I also pull my new to me Harley behind our MH can't imagine not having the bike with us. Love to make the short trip from north central Fl to North Carolina and ride the twisties. Our first big trip after retirement was to Albuquerque NM for the Hot air balloon fiesta ( awesome ) then over to the Grand Canyon, while attending the fiesta we jumped on the bike and went to los alamos and saw all the atomic bomb stuff really Kool. Can't provide you any help at this time but you will get plenty here. Check out routes and roads part of this forum much discussion on how to get from here to there.yes i'm cheapHave any of you used an alternative container instead of high priced honey wagon to remove some of your grey / black contents when in park with dump area.Re: using furnace while drivingAnother option would be to run the genny and use space heaters.Re: Ready! Set! ....Me and Copilot have same basic plan, also leaving from Florida (north central ) plan to go to Maine thought about going into Nova Scotia not sure. Up into Canada drop down into either Mich. or Wis. Just basic plan right now have not set leave date until I gather more info, like the post about you leaving early of course that just depends on how fast you travel north. Plan to see Mystic Connecticut, Statue of Liberty, Niagara Falls possibly Wash. DC Good travel and be safe.Canadian TravelWhat is the passport requirements to go into Canada? We have the passport cards and used them for cruises and you are required to return to the same port you left from, which I know is normal. So my question is can you go into Canada at one point and enter the US at another location with a passport card?replacing rubber roof with alumHas anyone heard of someone putting aluminum back on instead of rubber, not planning on doing it just a thought my roof is 16 years old so gotta be around the corner.Re: Gassing UpWell I think your question is more related to getting in and out of stations and have been answered completely. What I would add is both don't trust your Guage when it says 1/2 full until you have verified that is the case with your MH. I would say make a good determination of your gas mileage and you will know how many miles you can travel based on the gallons of gas your tank holds leaving room for the fact that you can't draw every drop out. Since I have determined my mileage I will many times run down to 1/4 tank, my tank holds 75 gallons so at 1/4 I have 18 3/4 gallons at 7 miles per gallon I can travel 131 miles, I feel I can probably find gas in 131 miles. Also remember that if you use the genny you have to take that into account. Lastly I keep a empty 2 1/2 gallon gas can on board you can keep it on MH or truck of toad at least you can go get some if you try to push how far you can go ( like I do )Re: I say “Yes lets go” my wife says “not so fast Sparky”!I am going out on a limb here but if I were reading between the lines my guess would be your wife is not just a homebody but probably has strong family values and she might feel that leaving the home front in a motorhome a little more permanent for a lack of better words, she is ok with those weekends away from home but to set off for multiple weeks/ months as a lot of rv'ers do could be the catch. Pick out some great things to do in an RV Wife and I took our first big retirement trip in Oct to Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 500 hot air balloons going up in a two hour period. http://www.balloonfiesta.com/guest-guide/faqsa Anyway good luck with your search as to whether motorhome is in your retirement journey. I see you just joined yesterday welcome.Re: Emergency Escape - What to Do??Very good post glad I read. Will check out our MH. Hope this is not thread hyjacking but wife and I had a discussion about how to get out if crash and MH was on its side preventing exit through door, so I decided I am going to keep a small sledge hammer in cockpit area to break out front window if necessary.Re: Riding out a hurricaneacker1 Just my opinion riding out the storm could work depending on how strong it is when it gets to where you are. As others have said consider staying at a safer structure during the storm. If you are in a park with trees they can be your friend and protect you from the wind but they could be what falls and damage coach. You have an advantage over others in that your in a MOTOR HOME I would think you could find someone to get you hooked up so you could leave area for a few days then return for your treatment assuming you can drive your rig. I live in North central Fl. I could head your way and help in anyway you would need including driving your rig. Let me know wife and I will jump in car and head your way.
