With fuel and cargo will be right at limit of hitch. 3500# I do like the wrangler a lot, but it is 3760# per dinghy guide and would put me over rating. Also not the most practical for daily driver for my job. Are the older wranglers lighter?Hitch rating/tow questionTrying to zero in on toad purchase. We are looking at the 2014 Jeep GC with Quadra-Trac II 4x4. Want to make sure my Class C can safely tow. Details as follows: 2003 31' Four Winds E-450 20000# GCWR 13300# loaded weight from local CAT scale. (14050# GVWR) 4850# Jeep weight I can't find the rating of the hitch. Looked in coach Owner's manual and it didn't list rating. The chassis OM was a little confusing, and I didn't see it on RVIA label. With bikes / kayaks / cooler on Jeep I expect it to be slightly over 5k#, and want to make sure hitch is ok. Thanks for the help! Update: Found hitch rating. Sticker hidden by mud flap. 3500# w/500# tongue weight. That rules out JGC, and also the backup plan. We are trying to combine daily driver with toad. My job has requirements on type of vehicle, price etc. JGC fit bill nicely. Outback manual would as well. (Current is Outback CVT, don't want stick for the # of miles I drive daily.) Any suggestions on 4dr daily driver that fits the bill? Can my hitch be upgraded? Alternative is selling beater truck and maybe replacing it with used Wrangler.Dinghy towing optionsLooking for advice on toads. Neither of our daily drivers are towable four down without modifications. CVT automatic Outback, and RWD Dodge Charger. (Don't want to install trans pump.). We are 12 months away from buying a new car, and then we will look for a towable Subaru or CRV. In the meantime I am looking at using our older truck as toad. 1993 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with push button 4wd. Owners manual says ok to do this with the following considerations: - Transfer case in 2wd High (no lights on dash lit) - Front hubs disengaged. - Transmission in neutral. - 55mph speed limit, no distance limits. A few questions: How do I verify hubs are unlocked, as these are auto locking hubs? Has anyone towed a truck like this? Best baseplate / towbar for light truck? Thoughts on supplemental braking? Any other thoughts? Tow vehicle is V10 Class C. Other option is to have DW follow in one of the other vehicles until we can buy a suitable toad next year. Opinions appreciated!E450 Four Winds - Fixed - Protective Warranty ReviewGot our Four Winds back today just in time for our initial trip this weekend. P0171/P0174 codes and hot starting issue fixed. I replaced/cleaned: Air Filter, Fuel Filter, MAF Sensor. (Needed but didn't fix) Local Truck Dealer pulled codes checked fuel pressure and diagnosed as faulty fuel pump. 8 PSI when warm. New fuel pump ($850 +/- later) and it runs and restarts like a champ. :B We have only owned for about 3.5 weeks. We decided on the 90 day Protective Xtra Guard warranty. This is not something we normally do, but I am so glad we did! I was very pleased with the level of service that we received. It took a little longer than I wanted to become active, but when I called the dealership to inquire, they had it fixed by the next day. The customer service agent I dealt with was very friendly and helpful. My repair dealer had never dealt with this company and told me that they were easy to work with and took care of everything via credit card. I don't know how good of a value the long range warranties are as they are up there pricewise. But for the cost of the 90 day, I think it was worth it!
