Thank youRe: Water Heater ElementI would like to thank everyone for all of your reply's. Hanko I agree with the crappy Mexican or Chinese parts but I would think we might get lucky an get a decent one somewhere along the line. I am going to check thermostat but it seems to work fine on gas and I agree with cdl2 about the relief valveRe: Water Heater Element jtfcons wrote: Just a thought, but there may be an air lock preventing an empty tank from filling fully, so I would turn on a hot water faucet and make sure a full flow of water is achieved before declaring that the tank is full. Also, when not in use, I keep a piece of tape over the 120VAC switch in an off position. This ensures that I don't accidently leave it on and hook up 120V power even for a second. We do run the farthest away faucet until a steady flow/no more air and we do also tape our switch as it is in a very bad place where it can be accidentally bumpedRe: Water Heater Element crasster wrote: By any chance do you keep water in the heater when parked for period of time that could accumulate lime buildup on the element? Also do you ever run the tank empty where the element would be allowed to heat without water around it? Water heater is emptied out when storedRe: Water Heater Element Chris Bryant wrote: When you install it, are you making sure the loop winds up vertical, and not horizontal? No. It only screws in one way?? I am like Doug I guess and maybe not understanding what you mean???Re: Water Heater Element Old-Biscuit wrote: How are you determining elements are BAD? Mine Atwood 10 gallon elec/gas is 10 yrs old and same OEM element. Only reason for them to burn out is energized w/o enough water to completely submerge them Our first notice is we don't have hot water and in trouble shooting and pulling the element out is is always burnt in two or a hole burnt in it. We have also checked it with an ohm meterWater Heater ElementWe have an Atwood 10 gallon elec/gas water heater. We are on like our 4th element in probably 2 years. We make sure tank is full before turning the electric switch on but we are going through these things like crazy. Any ideas why we are constantly burning the elements up??? Thank youRe: Some of the little things you like/dislike about your DP?To be better insulated, Heated Floors, and a bigger john areaRe: Some of the little things you like/dislike about your DP?This is our first motor home, 03 Fleetwood Discovery with 3 slides. After having it now since 05 here is what I don't like or wish was different. I hate the toilet being in a separate space with a door. So small. We are actually going to try and remove part of the wall to open it up but not sure if we can because it may be a support wall and there's another door separating the back of the coach that is on that wall. I would also love a King size bed, a shower to the floor. Outside compartment doors to open up sideways not up, a residential refrigerator, a food pantry, heated tile floor, better insulation in the walls.Re: St Augustine and New Orleans RV parksWe are in New Orleans right now staying at Richards RV Park in St. Bernard. If you are looking for a 5 star resort this is not that place but in searching for a place to stay while here I found it very difficult to find anything that we felt comfortable staying at so I expanded my search out to the outskirts of New Orleans and found this place. We decided that we would try this place for at least a night and see what we thought. We are still here. We have been here for 2 weeks, leaving today. It's a campground. About 60 sites. Sites are on grass. There are full hook ups here. 30 or 50 amp service, laundry facilities, No showers. Wi-fi is good closer to the office. It's very quiet here, I feel safe, The owner is very nice, very helpful, and really keeps an eye on the place. There are a lot of permanent residents here. They are workers that work on the refineries and pipeline here. We have not had one issue here. The weekly rate is $100.00. Nightly rate is $20. Downtown is a straight shot about a 15 minute drive on Hwy 39 (Bayou Rd), the road the park is on. While we have been here we drove around to a bunch of the other RV parks around and we are very glad that we are here. I have not stayed at any of the other parks here so I am only giving my opinion here. The group of Parks located near the CVS switching yard I was reluctant at staying because of the train noise which as previously posted was verified plus not in a very good part of town. (Jude RV Park, etc.) The French Quarter RV might be very nice inside the gates but it is also not in a very good part of town. It is right next to Interstate 10 and the main hospital and have you seen their rates? Wow!! Here they are : FQRV 2016 Special Event Rates Standard Rate $105/night, $630/week, $2400/month + tax ***All prices, rates and recognized events are subject to change at any time. ***Weekly and monthly visitations coinciding with a special event will be pro-rated at the respective event rate.
