I do all of the business operations so she can focus on the technical aspects of work. We have a stick and brick house outside a major Texas city and use the 5th wheel RV as a beach front vacation home about every other weekend. We are about 2 1/2 years from sliding in to full retirement. We plan to sell the SnB house, keep the FW in our current beach front RV park as a base camp, and buy a late model used Class C to do some trips we've planned over the past couple of years. After about 2 years or so and several trips in the Class C, we hope to have a better picture of whether we should keep the Class C / FW plan going or sell both of them and buy a Class A.Re: Holiday World in Katy TexasSome places will not let you walk through their service departments, at least not in the areas where the work is actually being performed. It's a liability issue. But you may be able to observe some keys signs of a well run operation -- the place is clean and organized, walk and fire lanes are clearly marked and observed, spills and debris are quickly cleared, and the staff uses ground guides when moving equipment into and out of the work bays. There are a couple of websites that permit users to add reviews to RV-friendly services, including RV sales. Here's one: www.rvservicereviews.comRe: Keeping camper on site no tow vehicleWe absolutely use our RV seasonally. We pick a place we want to visit, drive up there in the RAM 1500, pick a park and reserve a slot for the summer season. Prior to the moving day, we hire a commercial hauler to move our 5th wheel to that camp site and, when the season is over, hire a commercial hauler to move it home (or wherever). Runs about $3 per loaded mile which, for us, is still much, much cheaper than paying for and maintaining a huge tow vehicle. During the off-season, we pull maintenance on the RV and use it as a party room and guest house. :)Re: Refrigerator on Propane and stopping for GasThe rule of thumb is no smoking within 50 feet of a fuel operation -- that was the rule for refueling operations in the military. Not an exact answer but at least an answer is based upon some logic.Re: Other RV'ing falacies n7bsn wrote: Cubes of ice dumped in the toilet will break up the "black pyramid" as you drive around. There is a U--tube video of a guy that built a clear tank in his truck to see, and no it doesn't work. Unless (1) it's a different video or (2) the guy reshot the video, he didn't add cubed ice. The video I saw has this guy using artificial poop and driving around with it in a clear tank with a variety of different additives, but cubed ice wasn't one of them.Re: I'm a fool..CW has a great variety of items that are hard to find, particularly when you consider the wide variety of RVs that are on the road. That said, they have GOT to be the online ordering system up and running soon. They also need to fix the order history pages because they don't open the links to your order history. It just pulls up another page with the same information. Even searching for your orders on those same webpages simply generates an error message. After so many months, even I'm starting to shop elsewhere for things that I would normally buy through CW. The next thing CW needs to fix is their return policy. I can buy things all day long from Amazon, et.al., and return the item for almost any reason at no charge should I choose to return it. I've ordered "universal fit" items from CW that just didn't fit for whatever reason and been charged a return shipping fee. Based upon my conversation with their CSR, you must order the item(s) via their telephone ordering system for them to waive the return shipping charge if the item you ordered doesn't fit/work/damaged/etc. So, if you order online and what to return it, you're charged the return shipping fee. If you wait and talk to one of their CSR team and later want to return it, they will waive the return shipping fee. Personally, I don't necessarily want to chat with someone to order something when there is an entire eCommerce structure out there that sells the same products without all of the headaches.Re: Marcus, I need the 2nd shipping label for an order returnUpdate: Received a return shipping label for this item on today. Thanks to Mark, Ruby, and Elizabeth for their assistance.Re: Marcus, I need the 2nd shipping label for an order returnTo update this thread, I've heard nothing more from CW on this topic. I'll start the process of calling daily and sitting on hold to talk to a CSR. Will update this thread when I learn more.Re: CW -- Internet Order History in a loop?Just to update this thread, CW's website still doesn't give the order details. In fact, you can query your previous orders on the website and you'll get the "order doesn't exist" message. In other words, the same "issue" that was occurring over a month ago. And just to rule of a problem on my end, I used two different browsers and even when to my neighbor's house and tried on his computer. No joy -- same error message.Re: Why reply? They do respond to the PMs. My issue (needing a second UPS return label for an order) is still ongoing but Mark responded to my initial request from 5/27 and sent the first label via email immediately. Unfortunately, the second label (for the second box of the two-box order) still hasn't been received. I'm going to start calling daily but, based upon the many posts in this forum, getting through to a CSR is going to be tough.
