So here is another one. The decals and striping are peeling off of my motor home due to being out in the Texas sun for so long. The body is fiberglass that is in perfect shape and I plan on using a paint remover to strip them off and then buff the fiberglass smooth. What I am trying to do is save thousands of dollars even thou I will need a professional to apply new decal and stripes... So here are my questions. Has anyone out there done this? What kind of stripper/paint remover should I use that won't harm the fiberglass? What king of solvent should I use for any residue from the stripper? Last but not least, where and who would be a good source to apply decals and stripes? The fiberglass is white. I'm in Fort Worth, Texas. This baby runs great and the transmission is smooth as silk however I have absolutely nothing, maintenance manual wise, to help me if the transmission decides to stop working. This has the push button controls on the console. I've been a mechanic forever and am anal about having knowledge about being prepared for unforeseen mechanical breakdowns... There is a clear cover box with relays and a motherboard, blinking lights in the battery compartment door area just aft of the batteries. I believe this is the electronic control system. Does anyone know where I can obtain maintenance manuals and data about this? I've searched the Tiffin website, called their parts department and searched the Allison website. Any suggestions out there?Re: Tow vehicle smells after towingHey folks... I,m a little late in responding but wanted to thank everyone who responded to my smelly toad. The problem was indeed diesel and tire residue from tailgating a greyhound bus for 1200 miles.Tow vehicle smells after towingThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 28229768Tow vehicle smells after towingGreetings fellow RVers... I have a rather odd problem with my tow vehicle that I wonder if any of you folks out there have had the same issue. We use a 2011 Subaru Outback 6 speed standard shift; not automatic, as our tow vehicle. The car runs great all the time but after we have towed it about 200 or 300 miles there is a smell like hot brakes or a burnt clutch after we disconnect and drive it. It doesn't smell just being towed. This vehicle is towed behind a Tiffin 40 foot Allegro Bus with a Cummins ISC 8.3 350HP. We use a Falcon 2 tow bar, roadmaster aux braking system and everything is hooked up properly. The car is put in neutral, ignition to aux, brake is off and we tie a white rag to the steering wheel to see it turning in the rear view camera. It tows like a dream and everything is perfect except when we disconnect and drive it, there is a burnt smell from under the hood. The brakes are not hot to the touch and the smell doesn't appear to be from behind the engine. The only thing that seems odd is the alternator is very hot to the touch. After about a week or so of not towing the smell goes away. The only thing I can figure is that the battery is low from the aux ignition being on and the alternator is working hard to charge it up however I wouldn't think it would smell like a burnt clutch. The car only has 21k miles and I'm reluctant to change the alternator on such a new car and the warranty won't cover that... has anyone out there had similar problems like this? airplane Joecomments on 2003 allegro bus 40dpGreetings fellow campers... I haven't logged on for some time and I apologize for that as this website is fantastic to glean info from all you old rvers... Here's what I've got. My lovely bride and I are buying a 2003 Tiffin Allegro bus, 40dp with the Cummins 350 hp, 1000 t engine. She looks great, lots of storage and low milage. I would appreciate any tips, maintenance issues and suggestions from you folks out there. We go to Colorado every year to campground host and are hoping that the 350 Cummins will have enough 'umph' to pull a toad up those hills... Airplane Joe
