With all the storms we are having right now and especially in Washington, rivers are overflowing, mud slides reported. It looks like we might do better staying on I-5. I know we should have left mid November. Live and learn. Again thanks for the replies. We'll look at doing the coast home bound in March. Cheers101 south over to I-5 around San FranciscoHi we heading down to southern California next weekend. Driving down 101 from Oregon into California. Now my problem is I-5 thru Stockton. I despise this part of the trip, so we are thinking of staying on 101 to San Francisco then making our way up to Tracy to I-5, then I-5 to Los Banos then east to 99 to Bakersfield. Have never driven close to San Francisco before, looks like a bigger city than I would like but anything is better than Stockton. Any ideas would be great. we drive a 36Ft Gas Motor Home towing a Jeep, if that helps any. Cheers.Re: Hwy 99 CaliforniaThanks for the replies. Think I might give it a try this fall, southbound. If we don't like it, we know I-5 is just a few miles to the right. Be nice to think we won't have the I-5 to look forward to. Might be the right year for a change. CheersHwy 99 CaliforniaLooking at 99 south from Lodi to Bakersfield. Any current comparison between road conditions, surface conditions I-5 and 99. Always driven I-5 and want a change but not looking for more pot holes and cracked pavement. Drive 35ft gas motor home towing jeep. Cheers.Re: Hemet. Golden Village PalmsThanks for the replies. Kind of surprised all have some sort of negative response. I think there are over 1000 sites there. Someone must like it there. However, we will not take advantage of the pay for 3 and stay for 4 special. We may well stop in for a month, sometime this winter. We are trying to find cheaper parks as our wonderful $$ is dropping and financial types suggest it may drop to 70cents by winter. CheersHemet. Golden Village PalmsHi, This park has a special of stay 4 months and only pay for 3 months. We are thinking of taking advantage of this special for this winter. We have not stayed here before and wonder if its worth staying there for 4 months. Weather, things to do, etc. Been to the web site, park looks pretty nice. I have checked RV reviews, very mixed.. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers.Re: Route to Gold CanyonThanks for the reply. Sorry if I was not clear with the question. Next winter when we come south, we want to know if we should bypass Palm Springs all together and stay up on 58 heading east and then somehow drive south to Phoenix. Looking at Google maps, it looks like I may have to come through Palm Springs especially as I prefer to drive on 4 lane highways. I may have answered my own question but I would like other opinions. CheersRoute to Gold CanyonHi, I have been posting questions over at the Snowbird forum but now have a question about routes from I-5 (south from BC) to Gold Canyon. We have wintered here in the Palm Springs area for the past 5 years so we are comfortable getting here. So is it better to stay on I-10 then take the ring road around Phoenix, or stay up on 58 and somehow get over to Phoenix from the north? Hope this clear enough. CheersRe: Gold Canyon Golf/RV ResortBack to the drawing board about attaching a photo.Re: Gold Canyon Golf/RV ResortHopefully I am attaching a photo of our "Premium" site here at the park. We paid extra to back up to a "wash", didn't know we also got the one and only dumpster in the park. It is activated about every hour also when full the bring a trailer and park it beside, odor gets a bit ripe when the weather gets hot. Oh yes....its hot![img] [/img]
