Last time we drove to Liberty Harbor (2013) we managed to get there fine, but there was plenty of confusion and stress en route. It seems that some of the roadways heading east toward Liberty Harbor (and NYC beyond) have curb-like lane dividers and we really didn't know how to make sure we were in a lane that allowed us to exit when necessary, as opposed to going through the Holland Tunnel! We intentionally planned our travel on Sunday, so hopefully that will result in less confusion and traffic. We are in a 40' Class A, towing and will be traveling with two other motorhomers as well. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.St. John, NB to Gaspe? We're planning to visit the Gaspe Peninsula after finishing our tour of the Atlantic Provinces. Our most likely routing has us heading to Gaspe after leaving St. John, NB. It appears our most direct route is to go north on 7 to Canada 2, then NE on 17 to 132. Can anyone tell me if 7 and 17 are appropriate for 40' Class A motorhomes with toads? If not, what routing do you recommend? Thanks, NemoRe: Seeking Advice on Atlantic Provinces TripThanks everyone for the insights you've shared so far. I really appreciate all your input and if you have other advice to share, it's welcome!Seeking Advice on Atlantic Provinces TripHi all, We are planning a lengthy trip to the Atlantic provinces next spring and summer and are seeking some advice. Our plan is to spend the month of June in Newfoundland, hoping to see some icebergs and yes, we know it will be cold and likely wet. After that we will head back to Halifax in time to see the tattoo, then on to other parts of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI. Planned stops include Annapolis Royal, Lunenburg, Louisbourg, Moncton, and St. John areas. Mapping software has us traveling from Lunenburg to Bridgetown on Hwy 10, then heading up Hwy 101 all the way to Hwy 102 near Dartmouth before heading to Caribou for the ferry to PEI (will take the bridge when leaving). My questions are: 1. Does it make sense to drive our 40' MHs with toads to these locations or should we find a central place to stay and drive to sites we want to see? 2. Are the roads suggested appropriate for motorhomes? 3. Should we plan to drive our MHs around the Gaspe peninsula or park and take toads for touring? Thanks so much for your suggestions. Yokohama Tires? It's time to put new tires on our Class A Diesel Pusher, so we're getting quotes. We've been quite happy with the Bridgestones that are currently on it, but we've been quoted a much lower price for Yokohamas that the tire shops rep thinks are just as good. Has anyone had any experience with the Yokohama RY023 tire that you could share?Re: Liberty Harbor to Salem, MA?HadEnough - Your description of travel goals is exactly what we want to accomplish. (We did this exact trip over the weekend. I wanted to get from point A to point B with few tolls, no low bridges and in the minimum amount of time while still having a decent drive away from most traffic.) Sounds like other posters have provided a good option, however if you have other suggestions based on your recent experience, I'd love to hear them. And thanks in advance for your help.Liberty Harbor to Salem, MA?We'll be visiting the east coast in our motorhome with plans to travel from Liberty Harbor RV Park to Salem, MA. We would really appreciate routing suggestions from those in the know. Our GPS has some interesting route suggestions that I'm pretty sure are not what we want to do!Seeking advice on travel in maritime provincesHi everyone, We are planning a trip to the Canadian maritime provinces (NB, NS, NL) next year and looking for some help with figuring out driving times. Typically in the US, we are comfortable traveling a max of 300 miles in a day, figuring that is up to 7 hours of driving, including stops, etc. As we're working out details of our trip, we're wondering whether the same approach will work for us in eastern Canada. For example, Moncton to the North Sydney ferry is about 300 miles - - can we make that drive in a reasonable amount of time driving a 40ft MH with a toad? If not, how much time should we allow? Is there a difference in driving times in Newfoundland? Is driving from Port au Choix to Grand Falls-Windsor do-able in a day? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer. Thanks and a follow up questionThank you everyone for generously sharing your knowledge of the area. Peak to Peak sounds like a great route for us! When we leave Estes Park (will be there in mid-September), we're headed for Chatfield State Park in Littleton, CO. The most direct route takes us right through Boulder on Co 36, then on to CO 170. Knowing that this is a relatively congested area, does anyone have recommendations on timing? We'll be traveling on a Wednesday in mid-September (leading a caravan so dates are not very flexible). Or, are there alternate routes we should consider? Again, thanks for your help. We really appreciate having access to your knowledge of the area.Breckenridge, CO to Estes Park, CO?Hi all, We're planning a trip to Colorado in September. Our route will take us from Breckenridge to Estes Park Campground at Mary's Lake. One of the routing options has us traveling north from I70 on CO 119 to CO 72 and CO 7. From what I see on the map, this appears to be a very curvy road that may be slow and tiring while driving a big rig. Another option is to take I70 to CO 93 then to US 36. It's slightly longer but looks like it could be a better option for big rigs. On the other hand, we have some pretty steep downhill runs on I70 that the first route allows us to avoid. That said, we do have an engine brake and know how to use it. Can anyone offer any advice based on your knowledge of the area? Thanks in advance!
