Had the Equalizer auto leveling system put in some years back. I have a Melbourne class C. For the life of me I cannot find where the hydraulic reservoir is. When I asked the dealer who install, they said most likely under the hood but that was awhile ago. I no longer live near the installer. System is working fine, but I would just like to know and check level. Thanks. GaryRe: Tires (again)Oh yeah...$70 dollar rebate as well!Re: Tires (again)Good morning all. Just an update on my tire situation. After all the great advice (as always) and considering the DOT date (June '09) I figured 7 years time enough. My first quote of about $3000 was indeed highway robbery. Went to Mavis and was out the door under $1600 for a set of 6 Michelin LTX M/S 2. Love these and the DOT date is July of '16. What a great feeling knowing I am not riding on 7 year old rubber. Small price to pay for peace of mind. Thanks again gang.Re: Tires (again)Thanks all of you. The first price of $500 was from a Michelin dealer. I will definitely shop around. Agreed that my average is around 3000 miles a year. Is there any brands to stay away from? In other words, tires are personal. I get that. But has anyone heard of real life horror stories with any particular brands? Thanks all.Re: Tires (again)Thanks Ichabod. I felt like I was winning LOTTO. Everything matched the recall with the exception of the last 4 of the DOT identifier. The website says if it does not match EXACTLY, it is not part of the recall. Was so hoping. Guess I will bite the bullet. Just hoping 6 years indoor maybe buy some time. Thanks for the link, though.Tires (again)Just asking the expertise of the forum. I bought a used 2010 Jayco Melbourne. Has a set of Michelin LT225/75R16. My question is the previous owner stored this Motorhome in a garage for the first six years unless camping. I know all about the 5-6 year rule, but a set of 6 of these is around $3,000. Do you think with the indoor storage I would be safe going longer? They only have 17k miles on them. Thanks. Just looking for the expert opinions of the membersRe: Options for Lifting RV Queen BedWe have the Jayco Melbourne 29d. We have the identical slide type rear queen you are talking about. They are basically the same unit. When I lift the plywood hinged assembly, there is a metal rod which swings up to hold in place. This came from the factory that way. The 29c and the 29d are basically the same units; very surprised yours does not have this metal rod. It would be an easy install.Class C LevelersHad many a pop up, travel trailer through the years. Finally I purchased my 2010 Jayco Melbourne 29d. Love this. Finally purchased the Equalizer leveling system and must admit this to be the best $5000 I have ever spent. I just tired of crawling around with various size boards. This fully automatic system was $2995 and the install at my dealership was almost $2000. Required welding of the brackets, hydraulic hoses, #4 wiring; a bit much for the driveway installer. Just returned from our first trip with them. OMG! Wow. The unit leveled perfectly within 2 minutes. The obvious difference was just how level we were during our trip but the other advantage which I didn't realize was just how rock solid the unit is. The slight rocking never really bothered me, but now I realize what I have been missing. The unit is now just as solid as my house. When I turned over in bed I was like I must be in Heaven! Money very well spent. So happy!Re: Why RV different than house? If your house wall and roof framing were made of 1x2's and 2x2's, with 1/8" paneling as shear wall and 1/4" ply or OSB as roof sheathing, with 24ga aluminum sheet for roof and siding, all nailed with finish nails and screwed with tiny wood screws, then taken off it's foundation, placed onto a thin, weak RV trailer frame and towed over potholes and down twisty roads at freeway speeds, it would be falling apart and leaking all over, like most RV's Okay, got it. That's why I lean on all the expertise on this forum. RV'ing is a learning experience. Thanks again all of you!!Why RV different than house?Just a question. I've only been RV'ing for few years. I follow all this talk on resealing roof, etc. Why is an RV roof so different than the roof in my home? The roof in my house has wet vents, exhaust vents, etc coming through the shingles. Never in years do I ever get up on the roof in my home to inspect and reseal. But with an RV I read this is required annually. Just wondering why the RV roof is treated with so much more care. Thanks.
