If you’re just stopping for the night, a lot of us use big box stores, Walmart, Menards, Sam’s club, etc. Just park in an outta the way area, come in late and leave early, no awning, lawn chairs, b-b-q grills, etc. Re: One Piece of Advice Insist on getting from the seller - whether new or used - a complete walkthrough, inspection, and demonstration of EVERYTHING in the RV. This should include everything: water heater, refrigerator, microwave, toilet, tongue jack, stabilizers, furnace, AC, control panel, awning, water pump, winterizing, filling and emptying tanks, flushing tanks, etc, Ask questions and Ensure that you understand how every system works and that every system is working. This means yes, you want them to demonstrate to you by actually put water in the tanks, flushing the toilet, running water in the sinks, and then draining the water in the tanks, You actually want them to demonstrate turning on the refrigerator and verify it works. Same with furnace, AC, electrical, electric cord, batteries, pump, etc.You will learn a whole lot about how these systems work and at the same you will know that they work as intended; or they will fix them before you pay them. This should take a couple of hours but is time well spent. It would even not be unreasonable to pay a couple hundred dollars for this “service”, but I would negotiate hard for it to be included without extra cost; depending on how good the “deal” is to begin with. It would be money well spent for a first time RVer in my opinion. Re: First ever RV trip The campgrounds is a biggy. The may be hard to find (already booked up) that time of year. You should try to line them up now cause you may have to call around to several to find one with availability. And to do that, you’ll have to finalize your stops and how long you’re staying so you know what days to book where. Re: First ever RV trip So I’m a little fuzzy on your plans. You’re going to drive to one of the stops, do some sighting seeing, and eventually stop for the night where? At a campground? Big box store parking lot? Other? Do you plan on having electricity when you stop? Plug into an outlet? Generator? Other? Planning on having water for showers? etc? Need a dump station to empty tanks? Are you going to need heat. Air conditioning? A microwave? Are you cooking meals or eating out? Do you know how big a RV stove is? Does it have an oven? How many suitcases you planning on taking per person? Is there enough storage? Five in a Class C is going to be pretty cozy, but doable for a week. You’ll have about 1 to 1-1/2 days at each stop for sightseeing, eating, showering, etc. Is that enough time for you? Offhand, I think the learning curve on Rving in a class C has the potential to bite you in the butt big time. You don’t know what you don’t know. You may need to get some experienced person that knows about travel in a Class C to sit down with you for a few hours and put a real plan together. There are some really big potential pot holes in your road. Re: Hissing noise From your description It sounds like the noise is most likely coming from the converter fan, if so, it’s not a problem, normal. You can confirm this (if your unit has a battery in place) by unplugging from the generator, then the lights will still work normally, but as you turn them on and off there will be no noise coming from the breaker panel area. Re: What is so hard about keeping your users informed? Seems like a pretty good improvement and easy to use to me. The philosophy I learned in life was not to expect others to seek my approval to make changes. If I didn’t like the changes, I could leave or stay, Que sera, sera. Re: Max trailer length So let’s say I have a 41-foot trailer and I tell you ‘in 10 years I’ve never once had a problem’. So you go out and buy a 41-foot trailer and every time you pull it out of the driveway you get a $125 ticket. Then what? You can’t count on breaking the law without consequences; regardless of anyone else’s experiences. Re: radio fuse keeps popping Run a new temporary wire(s) to the backup camera screen and unhook the old one and see what happens. The temp wire may become your best solution. Re: Nt-20SEQ Furnace not working correctly The “electrode” (which I think you are calling an “igniter”) not only ignites the burner but also detects the burner flame. It sounds like this may be the problem. It may be defective or not properly positioned in the flame. Another possibility is the flame is not burning properly.
