They still start the truck like new all year.... cold or hot weather. Think when I have to replace them I’m going to buy the same kind ... OEM never even have had to jump this truck.Re: Through Oklahoma City40Re: Oil change SHOCKI was on my way to Southern California a few years ago in August driving a Peterbilt and my AC went out . I called Peterbilt in Kansas City, Ks and they said bring it in about 8am tomorrow. Got there at 8 got in the shop about 10 and they were done about 2pm service mgr said I have your bill ready in a few minutes. About 20 mins he comes get me to take care of the bill .....they had run a vacuum on the system, put on a new AC compressor , a high pressure switch then filled it with Freon the bill came to $3100 I said to the guy what the......... he says, isn’t this a company truck ? The Big O story reminds me of my ordeal. I bought several new Peterbilt since then and never even considered buying one at the KC dealer !!!!Re: Oil change SHOCKMy friend has two trucks, a gas Ram 3/4 ton and a diesel 1 ton Ram .He got his 3/4 tons oil changed last month at Big O and it came to about $60 something so she was in town and knew the 1ton needed service and thought since her husbands truck was serviced for 60 it shouldn’t be too bad . When they told her $415 she said she was shocked......Big O should have told her it is going to be exspensive. Oh well, they lost some customers for life and the oil change story will be told many times I’m sure.Oil change SHOCKA friend of mine called yesterday and asked how much I was paying to get my Powerstroke diesel pickups oil changed and fuel filters changed. I told him I buy my filters ( motorcraft) on line for like $90 with shipping, oil at Wal Mart for around $60 and I change it all myself , so around $150 dollars. He told me the reason he was asking was his wife took their 2011 Ram 3500 diesel to Big O tires and told them she wanted a oil change plus filters....oil, fuel and air. About an hour later she was told.... your trucks done... went to pay the bill and it was $415 for that truck to be serviced. I have never seen a service bill for a semi oil change that high... Told him thanks for the heads up on that I dang sure won’t be doing any business with Big O !! $415 for an oil change and filters on a pickup........No way !My SuperDuty 6.7 had a birthdayI bought my 2014 F350 6.7 powerstroke 4x4 long bed crew cab Ford pickup in March of 2014 brand new. . I’ve owned a few 7.3’ s but this truck is as good as it gets !! I hit a bale of hay on the interstate once and took it to Ford to have them replace the tracking bar. I change the oil and filters myself and had the tranny fluid changed and at 149,000 miles it hasn’t given me the first problem. I had the track bar replaced and had a crank filter changed and that has been the only times in 5 years it’s ever been in a shop. I pull a travel trailer with it, a 4 horse trailer, a equipment trailer and do what ever I need to do with it, it starts up at below zero like it’s a summer day. I’ve given an update every year since new .... Morel of the story....... 6.7 diesel and Ford F-350 Super Duty have been AWESOME !!Re: 7.3L VS. 6.7L PSDI’ve owned 3. 7.3’s over the years and still have a 99 F250 with a 7.3 it is licensed and still on the road. I also have a 2014 F350 with a 6.7 and the 7.3 doesn’t even come close to the 6.7 !! 7.3 was a great reliable diesel but there is a new sheriff in town now......the 6.7 ... better fuel, better power !! more comfort . I think it would take two 7.3s to make up one 6.7.-8 cold startA few days ago it got down to - 8 degrees here in the mountains of NM when I went to start my Ford F-350 6.7 diesel I hit the glow plugs just until the light went out , about 5 seconds and the truck started like a summer day . I can remember back in the day trying to start diesel trucks and if it wasn’t plugged in it was going to be tough to start. You had to run your glow plugs 4 or 5 times and if it did start it would smoke and buck for about 5 minutes before idling smooth. The other day the 6.7 started up, no smoke , no rattling. These new diesels start right up like a little gas motor these days. :)Re: 2010 Ford Super DutyKeep looking. The 7.3 was a great motor I know I had 4 of them and still have a 1999 crew cab sitting in the driveway that runs like it did on day one but none of them can hold a candle to the 6.7 !! I have a F350 with the 6.7 I would never buy a 6.4 - 6.0 or 7.3 when there is the 6.7 .....which IMO will become the best diesel motor Ford ever put in a truck. Good luck.Re: Spring trip to New Mexico? It can snow in NM, the wind can blow, there is a small chance it might rain but most days are blue skies and sunny !!
