The locks have a little tab that is supposed to close whenever you aren't using it. In my case the keyhole that was broke doesn't close, it kinda sits cockeyed and I have noticed this many times before. Well after enough time like that a bunch of dirt and junk accumulates in there. The locksmith was sure something was stuck in the keyhole and sure enough ended up being just a bunch of dirt and dust. He had to take it apart from the inside and was able to blow out whatever******got stuck in there and now it's back to working. Needless to say I'll be replacing the unit as this will likely happen again in time. I was also able to research a bit on this recall from FIC. I think it pertains to some locks made prior to 2007 but I'll investigate further and see if mine is part of it. Thanks again for eveyone's help and make sure you check your keyholes :)Help please! I'm locked outHi everyone. I'm leaving in a few days for a 9 day trip and all of a sudden I can't get my key to open my travel trailer. I have probably what most of you all have, it's a FIC door latch with a deadbolt lock and the normal lock. The deadbolt works just fine but the other lock doesn't let the key go all the way in. I was able to break in through the storage area in the bunkhouse and I can't get it to unlock from the inside either. There is nothing stuck in the keyhole from what I can tell and I used the liquid graphite also to lube the keyhole. I've also spoke to a service guy from camping world and another service guy from a local trailer supply place and they had nothing. I've put in a call to FIC but it only goes to voicemail. Next I'll call Forest River but after that I'm stuck with calling a locksmith and that will cost a couple hundred I'll bet. Oh yeah, I also called Geico roadside assistance and they told me if it's the key it's covered but not if it's the mechanism it goes into. Plus being that my RV is at it's storage facility then it's not an emergency so no luck there. Any ideas are appreciated cause I'm out of ideas.Re: Aluminum roof delaminationThanks everyone, I feel much better!Re: Truck campers -- awesome, right for a family of 4?I have 2 kiddos and we found our truck camper to be too cramped so we switched to a travel trailer. There's definitely pros and cons to each as many have noted. I don't have a slide on my Lance either which would make a huge difference. Btw, I can't believe that Host is a truck camper, that thing is HUGE! In terms of mileage I have an 05 Ram 3500 DRW. The Lance fully loaded approaches 4000lbs. and I get around 10 mpg. I'll bet a new Dodge would do a little bit better.Re: Aluminum roof delaminationOk thanks, I'm getting ready to sell it and had a near heart attack when I first went up on the roof!Aluminum roof delaminationHi everyone, I have a Lance with an aluminum roof that's about 13 years old. Recently I've noticed that when I head up to the roof there are areas where the aluminum has detached from whatever it was adhered to (I'm guessing plywood). My question is if it is possible that after some time, the glue or whatever it is that attaches the two together will just fail or is this a sure sign of a water leak? From everything I can tell there is no leak anywhere. I have been pretty good at patching up the occasional crack with Dicor and the caulking around the edges is pretty good. The caulking around the edges could probably be redone though as it is discolored and appears pretty old but doesn't look like it should leak. Nothing leaks in the interior and there are no signs of water damage anywhere. I'm perplexed as to how this all of a sudden just happened and then how to remedy the problem. I've searched plenty on the forum here and it's unlike any delamination issue I can find.Re: Missing NADA valueThanks for the info everyone!Missing NADA valueHello all! I'm not new to the site but rather new to travel trailers. I'm planning on purchasing very shortly and have come across a 2011 Coachmen Catalina 28DDS in very good shape at a very fair price. Problem however is that NADA does not list this model for 2011 at all. They do for 2012 but no 2011. Any insight as to why? I've found others for sale online and I did verify that this is in fact a 2011 model so I'm a little perplexed.Re: F350 anti-sway barHi all, this is my first post here. I've been reading a ton of stuff here the last few months and many thanks to all of you and the info provided on this forum! Anyhow I just purchased a 99' Lance 1030 and drove it home for the first time a couple of days ago. I have done absolutely nothing in terms of rear suspension upgrades to my truck (05 Dodge Ram 3500 DRW). The ride was pretty rough and stressful so needless to say I'll be fixing this immediately. I was literally minutes away from ordering the Hellwig "Big Wig" rear anti sway bar and some Firestone ride rite airbags. After reading this thread I'm wondering now if I should go with the Roadmaster anti sway bar. I'm finding it at about $130 more then the Hellwig. Why would it be worth the extra cost? Also the front sway bar is brand new so I didn't consider replacing it. It it OEM though so would you all recommend replacing that also? Anything else that I should consider immediately? My thought was that I would start with these 2 upgrades, see how it handles, then go from there. I understand I'm asking peoples opinions and it's not my intention to jack the thread with a brand war. Feel free to PM me if you feel I'm going in that direction. Many thanks!!!
