I am needing something for nothing but battery recharging and the only other thing I would need power for really is if we want to use the Microwave a couple times for something. I saw the YouTube video with a guy comparing the Honda 2K vs. the CPE 2K and the Honda ran a couple fans and then fired up a table saw full power with no power loss at all ... Then he plugged into the the CPE 2K and ran the fans and the saw Barely fired up at all .... then he turned off both fans and still the CPE couldn't power the table saw. So can one of the CPE's even power a Microwave? Not sure of my wattage on my rave and my trailer is in storage 30 mins away .. and the owners manual for some reason doesn't have model or info on it. It's the stock microwave from a 96 Fleetwood Prowler .. I'm sure most microwaves are in the standard 1200 range probably. I know this can 1600 but that table saw is no more then 1500 and it Bogged Down Big Time. Just trying to get an idea on what this CPE is capable of powering really. Thanks so much for the info. The answer to your question is: it depends on the microwave. It does not start my Panasonic 1350 watt microwave at all, it overloads every time regardless of settings or conditions.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread professor95 wrote: drzrider wrote: they do everyting I ask of them except run my A/C. Two paired as you described should run a 15K BTU A/C if you shed other loads like the electric water heater, electric heating element for the fridge and in some cases turning off the converter to get the A/C started. Many of us who have that set-up are staying cool. Just curious, is your A/C a larger unit or what do you perceive is going on to prevent running the A/C with parallel units? BTW - welcome to the thread!:C No Guarantees there Professor - During testing my twins started the 13.5K Coleman Mach III on the motorhome the first time, but after the compressor cycled naturally (I did not change the thermostat knob setting), went into overload the second time the compressor kicked in. No other loads, including the converter were active at the time. Testing took place on a typical 85-90 degree day at ~800' above Sea Level...and no, the A/C was not fitted with a Hard Start Cap - that may be something for DRZRIDER to look into if applicable for his A/C unit. YMMV Regards...Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread professor95 wrote: MrRchitty wrote: I really don't have the means to run a test where I can find something with a bad power factor that would bring the generator to its limits. *Edited for content and grammar* Of course, since both of us have black market CPE2000i inverter generators with specially programed inverter modules running rouge software and supercharged engines, no one else should ever expect similar performance. :p :W Ok Professor, it's a deal - tell you what - before you re-run your tests how about we swap 2000i's so that you can do them with the Stock inverter modules to fully appreciate that "twisting in the wind" sensation that some of us are feeling whom the manufacturer didn't take care of via special case customer support handling.:(Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread bruno1138 wrote: Thanks Professor - tried to give Champion Customer Support a call today to work out the details, but the wait time was over an hour. As their Santa Fe Springs facility is only about an hour away, am hoping to be able to just take the generators down to their shop and let them deal with it. Will let you know how it goes... Got through to Champion Customer Support / Tech support right away this morning and was told the following from the Tech Support guy on the phone regarding the module upgrade: "There is no software upgrade. The only difference is whether there is an internal circuit breaker or an external circuit breaker. If you are reading something about this on the internet, it is wrong. We are the manufacturer and there is no software upgrade." The guy actually sounded a bit exasperated / belligerent about it, so I didn't push any further. This experience with Champion Customer support was quite contrary to what others have reported on this forum, and was not what I was expecting at all.:(Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread wbwood wrote: Dumb question here as I have no experience with generators. I'm seriously considering getting one of these for dry camping and emergency home use. My initial usage would be to charge the batteries. How does one do this with the generator? Do you use a 30-15 amp dogbone and plug the camper directly into it and let the converter charge the batteries? Or is there a different and/or better way of doing it. I'm liking the price.... For a single Generator, a 30 amp RV to 15 amp standard dogbone would work well - the 30 amp RV to 15 amp simple adapters that I've tried don't plug to well directly into this generator's standard receptacle(s). Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Conntek-14200-1-5-Foot-Pigtail-Connector/dp/B002IZKDHK/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1345613232&sr=8-14&keywords=30+15+amp+adapter You may want to search back through this thread for converter models and overload issues - as I recall, some folks had problems with converters kicking these little champion generators into overload when attempting to charge their battery banks if the battery bank had been too heavily discharged.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator ThreadThanks Professor - tried to give Champion Customer Support a call today to work out the details, but the wait time was over an hour. In back-to-back comparisons with all conditions being identical, one of my CPE 2000i's will start an 8K BTU air conditioner every time. The other one is never able to start it and goes into overload every time when the compressor kicks in.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread DrBaker wrote: FWIW the twist lock on my Champ 4000/3500 is also somewhat loose. However it still seems to work fine. I suppose I could kludge a spacer ring like this guy did, but with the looseness of the connections, I wonder if these generators would still be OSHA compliant for Jobsites? http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B000IUL9P2/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0&isremote=0Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread professor95 wrote: bruno1138 wrote: navybanker wrote: What type plug fits the outlet on the left side of the parallel kit? One problem though, the twist lock is not tight and I have to tape it into the locked position to not be loose. Has anyone else had this problem using the left hand side twist lock receptacle on the parallel kit? One of the first things I did when I got my parallel kit was to remove the twist lock outlet and throw it in the trash. I replaced it with a single 20 amp standard blade outlet. IMHO all the twist lock outlets do is make you buy an overly expensive adapter or extension cord. I have NEVER had a plug fall out of a standard outlet on a generator and see no need for twistlocks. Very nice mod professor, but of course at this juncture, I'd be happy if the twist lock receptacle worked the way it was supposed to.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread navybanker wrote: What type plug fits the outlet on the left side of the parallel kit?
