We traveled alone and was the best trip we ever took. All of us loved it. I admit I was a little reluctant at first as we were relatively new to RVing and certainly never had taken a trip of this magnitude. Diesel fuel was readily available which was a concern of mine. I carried 15 extra gallons of fuel, but never used them once. As has been stated, take your time and enjoy the trip - it is a journey and not a destination. Including travel in the US to get to Alaska and back, we put 15,400 miles on our truck. There are some rough roads, but not nearly as bad as I expected. The steepest hill we went up or down was a 11% grade. Enjoy your trip.Re: Running generator while travelingMany thanks to both of you for the info. One more item: using the refrigerator on gas, I believe for safety that should be shut down when refueling as has a pilot light. Is this what is normally practiced? Thanks againRunning generator while travelingI am new to traveling with a Class A Motorhome. My questions - 1. is there any problem running the generator and Air Conditioner unit while traveling. 2. should the generator be shut down when pull in to fill up with gas? Many thanksRe: Dingy towing braking systemsMany thanks for the info folks. Yes, quite strange to be saying lady Gamecocks. Also, congrats on your good football year. Hopefully, Gamecocks will do better this year.Dingy towing braking systemsHi all, I am new to Motorhome traveling and dingy towing. I am looking for a braking system and two I am considering are the InvisiBrake system by Road Master and the BrakeBuddy Classic. Does anyone have experience with either of these systems or information on which is the better system? Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanksRe: Speed for towingMany thanks to all for your responses. I can always depend on getting good help on this forum. While I am not new to RVing - have owned 5th wheels, but first experience with a Class A. Thanks again.Speed for towingI have a Saturn ION and owners manual says the vehicle can be towed, but max of 65 miles per hour. Is this particular to the Saturn or is this common to other towed vehicles? Not that I plan to do a lot of driving over 65, but just curious. Thanks.Re: Mortorhome Dinghy towing problemsMany thanks to all for your very helpful information. I do realize backing would be a problem but did not know how often a situation arose where backing up or unhooking was required. Sounds s though it can or does happen but not that often if you are careful and think ahead. Thanks again.Re: Mortorhome Dinghy towing problemsMany thanks for the info.Mortorhome Dinghy towing problemsI am planning to purchase a first time Class A Motorhome. I have been told that you cannot back up while flat towing a vehicle. My concern is how often does this really become a problem? I assume if you get into a position you need to back you would have to unhitch. Any information appreciated. Thanks.
