Using real world experience and personal knowledge, what is the better SRW Diesel pick-up? When it is all said and done, they all probably perform acceptably. Take into consideration maintenance issues, ride, comfort, etc. The purpose of the truck will be to pull a FW and daily driver. I am considering new or most recent generation used trucks. Dumb question IMHO. Considering most people only have experience with one, possibly two brands of a similar vintage how do you hope to get an un biased opinion ? If I won the lottery and bought three new diesel pickups for comparison then I could offer an educated un biased opinion. Oh wait there's automotive journalist types that do this stuff for a living ! There opinion might be biased by which manufacturer left the biggest box of doughnuts on the passenger seat !Re: Another new F-150 adventureBroken springs on a 2007 with only 109K :E I would not be impressed, the exhaust manifold would be another slap in the face.Re: Exhaust timeCorsa if they make one for the Ford 6.0. If not get a Corsa muffler and have an exhaust shop build the rest. I hate drone had a Magnaflow on an old 350 GM and it drove me nuts, I put up with it until I sold the truck. My 07 Duramax has a Corsa cat back system the muffler is a full 4" straight through design and the best part is no drone at all, nada, none, sounds like a stock truck when riding in the cab even when pulling a decent grade under load. Has a nice jet engine whoosh when romping on it with the windows down.Re: 2014 Ram EcodieselThere were a couple of RAM 1500 diesels at the local auto show and the payload sticker on both of them was about 950lbs. Nice trucks but with that low payload number they really are grocery getters or soccer mom vehicles. I think my old 1996 Toyota SR5 pickup was only slightly worse for payload.Re: LLY and LBZThe confusing part is GM produced two versions of the LLY 04.5 to 05 were the early versions that some people had overheating problems. The 06 late version LLY was basically a detuned LBZ with none of the overheating problems. The early LLYs had the 5 speed trans and the late LLYs had the 6 speed trans with the +/- on the shifter column.Re: Questions for LBZ experts about 06-07 Duramax 2500HD truck DUO_CORE wrote: 2006 LLY is the same except for the tune. 2004/5 LLY were the overheaters. As long as it has the 6spd Allison it's an '06. Exactly. What get confusing is GM produced two versions of the LLY early models 04.5 to 05 and late models 06. I would not be scared of a late model LLY. The 06 LLY and LBZ both have the 6 speed Allison which has the +/- button on the shifter column.Re: Things that make me chuckle!!! Too funny.. :) Mitch Need something to go with the two 12" stacks !Re: Stranded in HoustonI would have a hard time putting 7K into a truck that age with that mileage. Another option is to sell the truck as is and look for a good used truck, you don't have to buy a new one unless you want a new one. If you want to stick with a diesel I would be looking at 06 to 07 pre DPF Dodge Cummins or Chev/GM Duramax models.Re: 6.O diesal Truck trade or fixTough call. If the truck is worth 10K and you put 6k into the fixes you still have a truck worth 10K. If you really like it and the truck is in good condition and you plan on keeping it a long time then it might be money well spent. If it was mine and it is running good I would rather spend the 6K on upgrading to a different truck.
