Add the cost of fixing all the items that need repair and then determine what it would be worth ready to go. My gut tells me it would be a $10K vehicle ready to camp in and a $2-3K vehicle as is depending on what all it needs. That leaves $7-8K for repairs, selling time etc. If a tranny costs $3K and you put another $2-3K in getting in good shape, it is a risk. That would leave you a net profit for your efforts of not a lot of money. Too much risk for me and I like risk. Typically when I get into repairing used vehicles, the shocks turn into brakes also, then the U joints, then water heater or alignment. Nothing really pressing but to do it right they all seem to be in need. The question is how much does it need to attract the new buyer. Is the rest of the rv in good shape mechanically and rv wise? Those are the sort of #s I was looking for. Fridge works, hot water heater works. Genny needs the carbs cleaned, wax seals on stove valves have hardened. I full-timed in it for years, so not pristine. Functional. I'm trying to decide whether to fix it or sell it.Value of 2001 Dodge Roadtrek 190 P @ 225K?Ok, I finally blew a tranny. Fortunately it was a Dodge 46RE - 4 speed auto that won't go higher than 2nd gear now. 225K miles, 2000 chassis, 2001 Roadtrek 190 Popular. 318 engine. Decent shape, needs various repairs besides the transmission, all doable. What would it go for w/ that mileage now, if everything works on it, if I throw a rebuilt tranny in there? Just trying to get a general feel if it's worth throwing in $2-3k in a rebuild.Re: Can't turn stove knobsSweet! I could have an oven in this thing? Thanks for the help, fellas.Re: Can't turn stove knobs dougrainer wrote: Probably a Wedgewood DV 20 model. Regardless, you need to replace the valves. How old is the unit? Doug 15 years. As a bachelor chef, I don't cook much. I realized later I've got an MRE heater in the pantry.Re: Can't turn stove knobs CopilotCompanion wrote: Can't turn knobs right or left? You were one of those undecided voters, correct? :W Seriously, I prefer this thread to the political food fight happening next door. Nope, thank Kek we had paper ballots.Re: Can't turn stove knobsIt's a Wedgewood by Atwood, or an Atwood by Wedgewood. Two burner propane stove, outboard & aisle, w/ the two knobs just forward, next to the sink.Re: Can't turn stove knobs dougrainer wrote: You have a Roadtrek. I will bet none of the responders realize you do NOT have the standard RV Range. You have the recessed 2 burner range top mounted in the top of the kitchen countertop? If so, give the Brand and Model if you can get to the model number. I would suspect that some type of liquid migrated into the Range Burner valves and at this point you will have to replace both. Doug Haven't been in a lot of other RVs, didn't realize this one was different. Will post the manufacturer shortly, the model # is inside, will have to wait after the gun show.Re: Can't turn stove knobs Chris Bryant wrote: Is the knob hitting the faceplate before passing the detent? If so you can pull the knob and stuff a bit of wadded paper in it. If the valve is actually frozen up, replacement or rebuilding is in order. The grease is used to seal the valve, washing it away is a no no. No, the knob doesn't hit the faceplate. I tried pulling the knob off & using the Gerber's pliers, but it looks like an aluminum knob seat & I'm afraid that I'll bend it if I twist too hard. Since the valves are vertical, if I put just a bit of lighter fluid on there, will that soften the grease, or do I just have to have the stove rebuilt? Is there a kit I can buy and do it myself, or is it off to Camping World?Re: Can't turn stove knobs MEXICOWANDERER wrote: Drops of lighter fluid. The refinery valve lube oil congealed on top of the o-rings. But wait! The naptha cure is being sneered at. OK I'll save my breath. Adios. No, no, I believe you, and my valves are vertical, so it will probably work better than on your stove. I'm amused by all the clockwise responses.Re: Can't turn stove knobs LadyRVer wrote: I, too, would try turning clockwise. Yeah, I didn't think of that before posting a stupid question on the interwebs. Oh wait, yes, I did, and it still doesn't turn. And the label on the stove indicates the knob should turn counter-clockwise, like it has for the last 10 years I've owned my RV. Any other helpful suggestions other than pouring lighter fluid on it, or should I ask 4-Chan to intercede for me with Kek?
