I was looking for advise on taking Rt. 301 vs 95 from Washington to Richmond.Re: 17.5 tire questionI got aluminum hispec wheels from e-bay for $205 each with free shipping. Center caps and lug nuts included. That was the best price I could find. It does seem to be a higher number of tires available in the 215 size. When I checked either the 215 or the 235 were about 2% different in size smaller or larger than my current 16's17.5 tire questionI just ordered a set of 17.5 wheels, but I am not sure which size tires to get. The 215 75's or the 235 75's. Either size appears to be slightly larger or smaller than my current 235 80 16's. Is one size better than the other and I was hoping to keep my current size spare to use in a pinch. 2013 dutchman voltage 3200Re: 5th wheel nose high problemI have a 20k reese select slider on top of the picture frame and a trail air pin box. I like the pin box, but maybe I could get one with a lower profile. I was also looking at maybe getting 17.5 wheels and tires. I would gain a little height and higher weight rating on the tires. That is expensive though$2000 plus. I do have Chinese tires now.Re: 5th wheel nose high problempicture frame is around two inches, so getting rid of that would help. I did look at the B&W made for the Ram 5th wheel package, but that would only gain me 3/4 inch and I would lose my ability to slide the hitch (I have the 6.4 bed) Will those other hitches go lower? My hitch now is just under 18 inches from the bed.Re: 5th wheel nose high problemnot sure how to post pics, but yes you could walk under when hitched because I am nose high. Problem is the truck simply sits too high and I am out of adjustment on hitch and pinbox. Truck is a stock 2014 ram 3500.Re: 5th wheel nose high problemRight now the only way to get low enough is it to do a goose neck conversion, but reading about that has me a bit worried about the stress on the trailer frame. Anyone have experience with this?Re: 5th wheel nose high problemWell, I weighed my trailer axles before a trip and found a 1000 lb difference between the front and rear axles of the trailer. The rear axle is right at the limit of 7000 lbs and that was with no toys in the garage. I definitely need to find a way to get the nose down. I do not have adjustment holes on the spring shackles either. My current delema is how to do it. I have not found a hitch I can adjust lower except the Anderson ultimate which would give me around an inch. I have a trail air pinbox that is adjusted as high as it can go. Don,t know if a different pin box is an optionRe: 5th wheel nose high problemI have been trying to find a lower hitch for my truck but with the 5th wheel prep package it makes options limited. I found goose neck adapters that would work, but not sure I like the extra stress on the trailer frame they would cause.
