I've really only been driving in the city since I got the new truck though, so I don't know that they will bother oncoming drivers. Something for me to watch for on my next long trip.Re: Shifting into neutral davisenvy wrote: I bet you guys don't remove the tag off your mattress either. Outstanding! We need a quote of the week thread, LOL.Re: 2014 Silverado 1500 – First impressions ib516 wrote: With the 2014 RAM Crew Cab, you can get the 5'7" bed or the 6'4" bed in the 1500. 2500/3500 it is 6'4" bed or 8' bed. That's a nice change, and one I wasn't aware of, but it's still short over 300 lbs of payload. So in the end I still would have ended up in a Chev or Ford this time around...Re: 2014 Silverado 1500 – First impressionsI picked up my 2014 Silverado earlier this week, so I will admit bias right off the top. I traded in a 2011 Ram, not because I didn't like it, but there were reasons. Looks: It took me a double take to get it, but I really like the Silverado (much better than the Sierra IMO). This said, I thought the Ram up until 2013 was the best looking truck on the road. Power: The power is not much diminished going from the 5.3 to the 5.7, but I agree with the comment the OP made about throttle tip-in. It takes some getting used to driving the Silverado. Interior: I really enjoy the interior of the Silverado although I miss having cup holders in the dash versus in the arm rest (front bench seat). Mind you I went from a Ram ST/SLT to a Silverado LT, so this was not an apples to apples. Payload: This is a showstopping winner for the Chev. My old Quad Cab Ram rated 1610 lbs for payload. A 2014 equipped similarly to what I have now (Big Horn Crew Cab 4X4) rates 1417 lbs for payload with the 5'7" box. You'll note that Ram doesn't offer the larger box sizes with their Crew Cabs. The Chev with the 6'6" box, crew cab, Max Trailering package and all the other LT trim-line bells and whistles rates 1751 lbs for payload. So apples to apples or apples to oranges, the Chev is stouter from a payload perspective while still providing the cargo capacity that I need out of a standard size bed. For me, I liked my Ram, but I'm beginning to love my Chev.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereThe Ram was a 3.55 and this is a 3.73, which is part of the reason I'm pretty confident it won't be an issue. The difference in final drive should make the power difference of the stock motors negligible for towing purposes.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereJust picked up my 2014 Silverado 1500 LT w/ the Max Trailering package earlier this week. It is more or less loaded, minus the buckets and nav, which I didn't want. Also, in order to get leather I would have had to get the next model up that would have forced me into buckets and nav... It is much more quiet on the road than the Ram, and because of the torque curve being more generous at the bottom end, the Chev 5.3 feels pretty much just as strong off the line as the Dodge 5.7. It has the 3.73 rear end as well so I'm prertty confident it'll pull my rig pretty easily. Can't wait to get out to tow! Re: They damaged our new car installing the base plate et2 wrote: In retrospect I guess it was a stupid post. I did indicate they handled the problems well for the most part. It was their quick attempt to push any future problems problems caused from "their install" at the car dealer. I don't know what was behind the hole they drilled besides the trans line. General RV is huge and has brick & mortar in many locations. They do their own installs and many of them. Sorry for the waste of time. I guess I just needed to vent . It's a great example of bad news-good news to me. Not a stupid post as I would be getting frustrated after that many mishaps too, so I think you were just venting. Perfectly normal. On the other hand, and as others have said, the good news is they are making it right. If anything, if I was the manager or owner of that dealership, I would be trying to get to the bottom of all the accidents. It must be costing him a fortune to cover off all the blunders.Re: How Do I Know if My GM Hitch was recalled? Boband4 wrote: Wow! Guess I have learned something. I have an 05 1500 HD, 4x2. They were hard to find. If it isnt raining this weekend I will be under the truck looking at the receiver. I think that is the power of this forum; when we keep things positive and helpful we all learn. bucky wrote: Several people were willing to answer his question, and did. Francesca even posted a website for the OP. Maybe some of us don't read anything before spouting off? Does anyone know the meaning of irony? :S For any recall info, the quickest and easiest(but certainly not the only)method is to call the dealer and ask if there are any outstanding recalls. You might get some other hit than your hitch, but it would be worth the peace of mind. Good luck!Re: Sell trailer to dealer or what?Expect less than wholesale would be my guess. When they offer you a trade-in value, it is against the sale of another item that is in stock. In this scenario you are asking for their money without increasing their sales numbers. They will offer bottom dollar, IMO.Re: ? Which SS Percolator Campfire Coffee Pot ?I just bought the filter holders that sit on top of your coffee cup. 1 heaping scoop of coffee grounds, pour in the hot water and wait 3 minutes while it strains through. You could use any pot or kettle to boil the water that way.
