All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsLadder mount for Overhead BunkI just now decided to make up the queen bed in the overhead, but when I went to hook up the ladder it was too short. It looks like there is supposed to be something mounted to the edge of the bed because there are two what look like clamps spaced to the width of the ladder and they are held in place with two screws each. Can anyone tell me what might be missing or how to get the ladder mounted. I can put a platform down on the floor and just angle the ladder to the bed but I think there is something else that goes into these two clamps that hangs down. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JakeRe: Fridge gas valve solenoid friedI think you are correct about the short circuit theory I had. After going out just now and looking at the situation again it appears that there was a gas leak at the control valve and it caught fire, because there is soot on the back wall and even as high up as the liquid tank for the fridge. I also have several other wires burnt that are not even associated with the valve. Has anyone ever encountered a situation like this. It is very disturbing that the RV could have caught fire because my dog was in there while we were at the race. How would a gas leak be able to catch fire unless the igniter sparked enough to do that. I also don't know why the fire even went out unless the gas detector shut the gas supply off. Any help on this problem will be appreciated. Thanks JerryRe: Fridge gas valve solenoid friedIt's a Silhoutte by Dometic Model S819 and it is a 1991 manufacturer. I'm sure the burner didn't have anything to do with it cause all the wiring going into the burner is still good. It's only the wiring at the gas solenoid that is totally burned up. If I know that circuit the Igniter Control Module gets it's direction from the thermostat and controls the engaging of the Gas control valve and the igniter to start the burner. It appears that the Gas control valve solenoid, which should hold open the gas flow shorted out and in turn melted the two connectors that supply 12v to the solenoid. I know I'm going to need another solenoid but was concerned about the Igniter Control Module and if it's still good. Thanks again for your help. JakeFridge gas valve solenoid friedI'm back with a new problem. This weekend at the races I had the fridge on gas and we got back to camp Friday night and it was off. It apparently has fried the gas valve solenoid cause the two wires from the ignition control module were burned black and melted. I think it also took out a fuse or two cause we lost lights in the bathroom and hallway as well as the fan in the bathroom. We just got back home so I have to check more on what all is bad. Here is my question, did the Ignition Control Module go bad or did the gas valve solenoid just short out, which is what it looks like. If any of you have had this happen I would welcome your input and what I should expect to find while trying to fix it. Thanks, JakeRe: How to remove float bowl on Onan GenSet 4000 Emerald PlusHey everyone, Thanks for all your input on the Carb problem. I found a guy here close to Austin that specializes in Generators so I took the RV out there and he took the carb off and cleaned it, changed the plugs, check rings and bushings. We just got back from the races in Ft. Worth and it ran all weekend without a problem. He charged me $ 260 for everything. So, it does appear that it was gummed up and for anyone finding they have to continue to choke the carb to keep it running cleaning is the cure!Re: How to remove float bowl on Onan GenSet 4000 Emerald PlusIt looks like quite a jot to take the carb completely off. Isn't there anyway to clean it up after dropping the float bowl. I haven't tried to use a spray carb cleaner through the air intake but have thought about trying that. If I have to take the carb completely off does anyone have a video or can tell me how to go about it. There is a lot of linkage attached to the front and back side, and three nuts holding the intake, and from what I can see two or three holding it on the backside that seem to be very difficult to get to. Thanks for your help. JakeHow to remove float bowl on Onan GenSet 4000 Emerald PlusI finished putting the new fuel pump, fuel filter and air filter in this weekend and mounted the pump and filter on the outside of the sound wall so they will be very easy to change in the future. I also got the Chemtrol B12 and mixed 2oz with a fresh gallon of gas. When I started it up I had the same problem, need to choke it to keep it running. If I don't hold the choke almost closed the unit surges and the governor tries to keep it running but it finally dies. This is with no load at all on the unit, and it only runs for a minute or so. I've seen two other places where that is clogged jets in the carb and it needs to be cleaned. I'm thinking about taking the bowl off the carb to clean it out but I don't see an easy way of doing that. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to safely do that. There is a nut on the very bottom of the carb that looks like what will loosen the bowl. If anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to them. Thanks for your help JakeRe: Onan 4000 GenSet Emerald Plus - Carb CleaningI have the fuel pump and filter coming, along with a new air filter and oil filter. I'm going to reroute the pump and filter to the outside of the rear sound wall of the generator so it will be much easier to service in the future. I'm also going to run some Chemtrol B12 through the carb once I get things in place and see if my problem clears up. Thanks for the help, all!! JakeOnan 4000 GenSet Emerald Plus - Carb CleaningI'm working on this unit and have finally got the fuel filter and pump out and I'm tempted to move them to the outside of the sound panel at the rear of the Generator which will make changing either much easier. I'm also going to try and clean the carb, but taking it off looks to be more work than I want right now, may have to but want to try a couple of things first. If any of you have done this for a similar Gen let me know, or let me know if it's not a good idea. First, there is a nut on the bottom of the float bowl, and I think if I take it off I should be able to drop the float bowl down and see if there is any gunk in it....is that OK to try? Second, I'm going to change the air filter anyway so I thought I would try spraying some carb cleaner directly in the intake with the Gen running to maybe clean out and gunk in the jets...is that safe? Thanks for your help. Jake
