The next leg of our see-your-beautiful-state route is from Glenwood Springs to Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park, staying in Grand Lake. Any recommendations on routes? How's 131 to 134 to 40 to 34?Re: Black Canyon of the Gunnison to Glenwood Springs, COThank you for your replies. For what it's worth: We followed the advice of 2lazy4U, taking the 141 cutoff and then I70 all the way to Glenwood. We met a couple from Glenwood Springs while we were in Black Canyon who recommended the same drive. Took us about 3 hours with 2 potty breaks and what a beautiful ride!Black Canyon of the Gunnison to Glenwood Springs, COHowdy! We are spending the next few days at South Rim Campground at Black Canyon. From there, we are moving north to Glenwood Springs. Can someone give us the route north with the 5'ver on our backs? As always, thanks ever so much for all your input. We are on the road, and your Colorado highways just aren't as flat as they appear on printed maps, hehe. -TonyRe: Dolores, CO to Black Canyon, COGreat and thanks, Lauren. You have given us great advice in the past. (Most recently, we HAVE to agree about Spanish Trail.)Dolores, CO to Black Canyon, COGood morning! We are presently staying at a wonderful cg in Dolores. Slowly, we are becoming used to your (very) hilly CO terrain! Visited Mesa Verde for the last two days and will be seeing Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride with just the truck over the next several days. I've done a search to find an answer to our question, but end up getting more confused as I continue to read (and becoming side-tracked as I jot down new things to see!) Our next stop next week is Black Canyon in Gunnison. We've got a reservation right in the park. Looking at the map, would we take 145N from Dolores to 62E to 550N to Montrose, then 50E to 347? We will have the 5'er on our backs, so looking for the easiest ride. Thanks in advance for your help.Re: Dodge City to Pueblo, CO HH?We came that exact route just last week. We stayed on Route 50 the entire way. All of those lettered roads seem to be unpaved roads that perhaps connect private land? There are many of them.Re: Route Canon City, CO to Moab, UTHi all: Well, we made it to Moab in one piece! It was a very looong day. Monarch Pass wasn't all that bad; it was what we expected from reading your answers here. But we weren't ready for the ups and downs all along Route 50 after that. Once on Route 128 in Utah, we were shocked to travel that long & narrow, washboard road! I mean, it was on our map, yet appeared to be some small, endless back road. It was absolutely gorgeous, though...one we will not ever forget. Moab is a great little town, and Arches is awesome. Thank again for your help.Re: Route Canon City, CO to Moab, UTYour responses help a lot. Thanks very much!Re: Route Canon City, CO to Moab, UTWe're on it! Made reservations months ago for Spanish Trail.Re: Ideas for a week in ColoradoX2 Garden of the Gods if in the Colorado Springs area. We did this yesterday and really enjoyed it. Also Seven Falls near there - so unique!
