Wayne ModeratorRe: Roof lift problem Outfitter ApexI've got an Apex with the same problem. While the wood strip is not structural, the fact that it's coming loose indicates that the roof is sagging. While a little sag is probably to be expected with age (my camper is 15 years old), it's not going to be cured with just a bigger screw or better adhesive. My solution was to remove some of the roof sag by shimming the roof back up with a slice of Starboard between the roof and the "roof rod". Once the sag is removed, a bigger screw and more adhesive will hold the wood piece in place. Hopefully this temporary fix will work for another five or ten years.Re: Happyjac Quick Load tie downsI've got a set, and so far they work just fine.A/C Condensate on Roof. This time of year the A/C gets run a lot here in Florida. It's humid and condensate flows like a waterfall off the roof right over my camper door. Has anyone come up with a neat and easy way to channel water off the roof so that it doesn't end on doors or windows or inconvenient locations?Re: Does this make sense? On the other hand, you may love it. I cannot begin to understand why anyone would post something as discouraging as this. I bought a camper that was several years old. I have used it for 7 years including 2 years full time. It's called being realistic. A TC is not for everyone, and certainly not for the faint of heart. There will be problems (just read this forum for a comprehensive list of issues TCers have to deal with) and it's not the most economical way to go. My point being that unless you enjoy the special experiences that a TC makes possible, the downsides may outweigh the benefits. The OP has posted previous threads that make it clear that he has issues with travel and being away from home. Do a little research before you jump in with a judgement.Re: Does this make sense? If your idea is to enjoy camping in less accessible locations and you love the outdoors and are an independent sort who likes doing your own thing and doesn't mind a little extra work, a TC might make sense, but if you just want to tour the West, it's a hell of a lot cheaper and more comfortable to just drive your car and stay in motels. Any TC is going to cost about 3 times as much to drive as a car, and site fees are typically significant, especially if you need good wi-fi for work. Add in the amount you'll lose buying and reselling a rig, and the TC idea is an economic disaster. If you're really curious, rent. While NADA may provide some data to be used to determine value, realistic asking/selling prices are best determined by comparison shopping.Re: 2002 f350 front mount trailer hitch and carrierCheck this: https://www.etrailer.com/question-50847.htmlRe: 2002 f350 front mount trailer hitch and carrierI installed a similar front hitch about three months ago. It's pretty easy. I did it by myself with no need for drilling, welding or special tools. It took about 30 minutes. Give it a try.Re: Suggestions which Campers are within our Pickup's capacityOff road capability and a heavy slide camper on an SRW truck don't go too well together. If you want room get a trailer. If you want off road ability, look for a lighter non-slide camper, possibly a top end pop-up.
