All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Wipers Just Stopped WorkingI ended up taking it to a place called RV Medic here locally and they found the problem, but only after they contacted Fleetwood. It seems Fleetwood redesigned their wiper system and there is a fuse near the battery (not shown in the Ford manual with all the other fuses) that blows on a pretty regular basis. They replaced the fuse and everything works again. Hopefully, this may save someone else $95 to fix a fuse. The RV Medic tech suggested I get a circuit breaker to replace the fuse so that when it blows again, it is a simple button push or the breaker will reset on it's own after it cools down.Re: Wipers Just Stopped WorkingI did not have time to try and hook up power to the motor, but definitely getting power through the fuse box with or without the wipers on. In my head, I would have thought the power would only flow when the wipers are on. As far as warranty, I doubt it would be covered as we bought the unit used this year and they said the 1 year warranty had expired. But definite worth a phone call to Fleetwood or Ford.Wipers Just Stopped WorkingI need some thoughts and ideas. I was driving my RV (Fleetwood Storm 2014) home during a summer rain. When I went to switch the wipers from low to high they just froze. I drove home the rest of the way without any wipers, but now I'm trying to figure out what is wrong. 1. I checked the fuse. It is good. 2. I attempted to move the arms of the wipers, but they are firmly in place. 3. I hooked up one of those testers with a light in them to the negative side of the battery and probed the wires going to the wiper motor. Nothing lit up so it looks like no power is getting to the motor. (I did test to make sure the light was working by touching the positive side of the battery). 4. I hooked the tester up to the positive side of the battery and touched the wiper motor and it lit up so the motor is ground. 5. Everything else on the arm in the cab works: turn signals, brights, washer fluid. I did just get it back from the shop where they installed a light under the dash to indicate if the brakes on our towed vehicle are engaging or not. But I was thinking if they broke something the wipers would not have worked at all. What are your thoughts on what else I can test or what do you think might be the problem? Is there any way I can test the motor?Re: Propane Issue?Seems to be consistent advice and thoughts about air in the lines. I will try lighting a burner for a few min. and see how that goes. Thanks for the advise.Propane Issue?I had my 2014 Fleetwood Storm Class A RV out this past weekend and two things happened that made me stop and pause. I do not know if these are issues or need further investigation, so I wanted to get some thoughts on the problem. As a back ground, I bought the RV used this year about 4 months ago, so my history is with the RV is limited. First thing I noticed, my wife had turned on the hot water heater and I happened to be standing on the side of the RV where I could hear and see the heater spark and light the propane. It flamed up beautifully. About 30 seconds later, the flames went out and it started sparking to light again and it did. It went out one more time, relit and kept working. Had I not been outside, I would have not known there was even an issue and we got plenty of hot water. We have used the hot water heater a couple of times before. What would cause such behavior? Air in the line when first starting up? I don't think that is normal behavior. Second thing, is the over pilot light would not stay lit. I have to manually light it and I have done that once before with perfect success. I kept holding in the knob and putting the aim in flame in the right location. Every once in a while I would get the faintest of flames holding for about 3-5 seconds (while still holding in the pilot position), but then it would go out again even while still holding the knob in. I ended up pushing the knob past the pilot and lighting it that way, but again what would cause such a problem? I have propane at home, so I'm not completely ignorant of how the gas works, but it pretty much works at home. And I got pretty good at relighting the pilot light on the gas water heater when it started going belly up a few years back until we replaced it. Any thought or ideas would be appreciated.Re: Making Sure I'm Setting My Tire Pressure CorrectlyI had forgotten I had looked this information up on the tire site. Thanks for the reminder and the confirmation my math (based upon the information I have) was accurate. I will check to make sure I'm not going over the 10% tire pressure increase due to heat.Re: Making Sure I'm Setting My Tire Pressure CorrectlyYes, it was weighted filled loaded with all passengers, full tank of gas and 1/2 tank fresh water. The scary part is the various thoughts about the right pressure amount. Who do you believe and how do you know what is correct? Anyone have a link to an authoritative web site (i.e from a tire company or RV company)?Making Sure I'm Setting My Tire Pressure CorrectlyI want to make sure I'm setting the tire pressure correctly on my Fleetwood Storm. Here are the numbers: Front GAWR - 7,000 lbs. Rear GAWR - 12,000 lbs. Actual Weight Ratings Loaded for a Trip: Front Axle: 5640 lbs. Rear Axle: 11500 lbs. Bridgestone Tires: 245/70R 19.5 Min. Tire Pressure 80 lbs. Max. Tire Pressure: 110 lbs. I looked up on the Bridgestone Web site and found the following At 80 PSI for Single Tire it is showing 3525 lbs. At 80 PSI for Dual Tires it is showing 3415 lbs. If I take the front Axle actual weight and divide by two I get 2820 lbs. based upon the information above, I would set the tire pressure to 80 lbs. cold (or a little more to keep above the 80 lbs min. PSI on the tire). If I take the rear axle actuals, and divide by 4 I get 2875 lbs. based upon the information above, I would set the tire pressure to 80 lbs. cold (or a little more to keep above the 80 lbs min. PSI on the tire). I know that I should weigh each tire individually, but I currently do not have access to a scale to make sure a weighing. Am I calculating this correctly, so that all tires should be set to between 80 lbs. and 84 lbs. ?Re: EXTENDED WARRANTYOdds are in the the seller of the warranty. If they were not making money on them, deal or after dealer, they would not sell them. It works our for some people and if you don't have some cash available for a rainy day, then it might give you a little peace of mind. I personally vote for keeping the money for a rainy day and try to learn and do stuff yourself.Re: Help With Car to Tow NMDriver wrote: Go to another mechanic. No pressure? He messed up or is scamming you. If you are ready for a new vehicle regardless, then enjoy the shopping. I probably did not do a good job of fully communicating the problem and driving it to another mechanic would be quite the challenge as it almost stops running whenever you lift you foot off the gas pedal. I've been going to the same mechanic for over 5 years and he has been very reasonable and helpful. He has never tried to upsell me anything, which is the first thing I look for when I was looking for a mechanic. One time he even showed me a part under the hood and told me if I wanted to save a little money I could go buy the part myself and install it. And if I had any problems to bring it in and he would take care of it. I still may opt to get it fixed, but I have a least a week before he can even get started on the tear down. So, I figured it can't hurt to look around a little. Thanks for the input.
