When I look at the high end Newmars such as the King Aire, I see a lot of small components that are the same parts as my cheap model. It's those small parts that will fail or break over time. An example is the latches for the underbelly storage doors. They are always needing adjustment and the doors sag. I'm not complaining about my coach but if I was paying 3 times the price for a big Newmar I would want better components.Re: I want an Airstream. Wife wants to keep our diesel pusher. We are just on our way home after our very last dirt biking trip. We went to East Fort Rock just outside of Bend, Oregon. It's a special and beautiful place. But I sure won't miss the dust and dirt from Boondocking in the middle of nowhere. I would miss a few things from the DP. Like the big shower, all the room and the option to bring so much stuff. Getting rid of the bikes and quads means 4 less vehicles for me to clean and maintain. We will not jump into selling the DP until next spring at the earliest. Maybe I'll change my mind and keep the Coach. I'm building a Hot Rod VW and it fit's in our trailer so I could haul it to a few car shows along the west coast. Felling very fortunate to have many options.Re: Suggestions on New window shadesWe recently replaced all our day/night shades with dual roller shades from MCD. Day/night shades are awful. Hated them from day one. The dual rollers are a sunscreen roller shade and a solid vinyl night shade combined. Built to order in any custom size so they always fit. They were approx. $150 per window so they are not cheap. You could do just the night roller shade am I'm sure they would be quite bit cheaper.Re: I want an Airstream. Wife wants to keep our diesel pusher. The DP does have it benefits. Ease of set up, comfort driving down the road, lots of storage. But it's now 9 yrs old and always in meed of some repairs. I am very handy and do almost all the repairs myself. But of the 4 vehicles I own, none can be flat towed. So then I need another vehicle. Once we set up camp, I spend very little time inside, rain or shine. My DW is happy inside in her spot on the couch to read. We really don't need all the room a DP has. With the kids no longer going we can get away with much less gear with us so storage is not that important. A tow vehicle can be written off by my business. I'll work on her slowly. This may take some time.Re: I want an Airstream. Wife wants to keep our diesel pusher. We are selling the bikes and ATV's. Won't be doing that anymore. The issue wth keeping to 40' is that we will always need a vehicle to drive once we set up camp. That means a toad. I've driven a lot of narrow twisty 2 lane roads with this set up. Would be nice to not have to deal with all that length and 40,000 lbs.I want an Airstream. Wife wants to keep our diesel pusher. We started Rving about 13 yrs ago. Started with a Dually and a 40" Toyhauler. Then 3 yrs later we got our current RV. 40' diesel pusher with bunks towing a 18' enclosed trailer for the dirt bikes and ATV's. 64' long! Geez. Kids are 18 and 16 and are no longer interested in going Rving. I want something that will allow us to go to the places we couldn't fit in before. State, Provincial, and National Parks. I need help convincing my wonderful wife that we can have a great time in something smaller. Please Help!Re: Help with Diamond Shield removalI removed mine myself. Takes a bit of patience and a heat gun helps to soften it. Took me about 4 hrs. total. Had it redone with a 3M product while we were in Palm Springs by a father and son car detailing team. Did a far better job than the original. paid them $1K.Re: Thetford toilet fills with fresh water ScottG wrote: No sweat! Had to do mine a couple of years ago. One suggestion I have is to add a valve to the water supply line to your toity. It sure came in handy when our toilet started suddenly filling itself one weekend. With the valve I was able to at least shut off the water supply to keep it from over filling between uses. Good luck! Scott Good Idea, thanks again.Re: Thetford toilet fills with fresh water ScottG wrote: Replace the flush valve. Thank You, Scott!Thetford toilet fills with fresh waterOn this last trip I noticed our toilet bowl fills slowly with fresh water. Seems to do it whether using city connection or tank and water pump. I'm assuming the valve that you open to fill the bowl is dirty or not closing fully. Any ideas on where to start trying to repair this?
