A friend of mine told me that the insurance company would have a problem in the event of an accident or fire. I have stopped working on my renovation and the purpose of raising the ceiling height was due to the rust on the frame work that attached to the main frame. It was rusted through and the only way to correct it was to remove the coach off the frame and rebuild it. So I decided it would be great to just increase the ceiling height. And use 4x12 sheets of .030 aluminum for the siding rather than the typical 1" mesa. He basically said if I was ever pulled over or had to go through an inspection station they would take it off the road because of the modification not being engineered the way it was from the factory. Anyone out there ever heard of this problem?Re: replacement windows- regular home windows vs. RV windowsThanks for the tip about the salvage. I have been looking for such a place for compartment doors etc.Re: replacement windows- regular home windows vs. RV windowsGood point- The windows I have found do have the normal flange. But the thickness of the frame is only a little over two inches. The RV wall is 1-1/2" and I can compensate for that with some trim around the windows when I do the valance. I still go back to thinking they would work. And then keep going back and forth because you would think you would see them used if they would work. They certainly cost a lot less. They sure work a lot better than the stupid windows that are normally in RV's. Thanks for the input.Re: replacement windows- regular home windows vs. RV windowsnot if I use Proflex when I install it. Just because you don't see them being used doesn't mean they won't work. Also, my question was tempered vs. safety. As for the number of times my post was done- I apologize for that but I could not see my post going through. Go back to sleep now- Your comment was rude and abrupt And why would you be hitting curbs????replacement windows- regular home windows vs. RV windowsWhy can't regular home vinyl widows (single hung or sliders), be used to replace the typical radius Rv widows? They are just as light in weight and just as protected from the weather. Are their issues with the glass? Temperate vs. Safety? and what would those issue be? Thanksreplacement windows- regular home windows vs. RV windowsWhy can't regular home vinyl windows (single hung or sliders) be used to replace the normal radius RV windows? They are just as light in weight and just as protected from the weather?? Also much better to operate. Are their safety issues with respect to the type glass that is used? I.e. Temperate vs. Safety glass???rv window replacementWhy can't regular home vinyl single hung or slider windows, be used to replace standard radius windows in a RV? They are just as light weight and work much better? And just as sealed from weather?? Thank youCOMPLETE rewiringHi Nobody has done this- I have my 1988 toy. MH down to the frame. I can re-store everything but the wiring. I need someone who has knowledge of how to connect the inverter, converter, to the batteries, and do all the connections for the lights, marker lights, EVERYTHING. Anyone out there that knows someone who is an expert who can do this? Thanks, door frameAnyone here know where or how I can get a door frame. I can re-skin the door with no problem. But somehow the bottom of the door frame got bent in. (Is not square with the frame of the MH.). So what do I do with that? Also, I asked on another post about using regular household type windows in this. Sliders and single hung. If sealed properly I do not see why this has not been done. Maybe it has but I sure have not seen one using this type of window. What is everyones take on that idea? I have my whole frame completely off and a friend of mine is going to weld on new steel supports where the old frames were. Then I will start the laminate process of alum. to polystyrene, and wood. Should be interesting.Re: laminating DOW styrofoam to aluminum and woodThank you very much- I have to find some of that "Eternabond tape. I have not seen it anywhere. Good idea using scaffold and pac.
