I got the idea of using the 110 converter and plugging into my normal household outlet and still got nothing. Took the RV into my work and they checked all of the batteries. It seems that the friend where we store the RV for the winter hooked up the battery tender too late and the batteries froze. One battery was broken and the rest were swelled out. They showed a low charge but when a load was applied they all showed a bad battery. We replaced the one battery and in the interest of saving money decided to wait on replacing the other three. I took the RV home and plugged into the 50A circuit and immediately had power! The energy control panel showed that it was plugged into 50A and everything worked. So at least in my case, yes, a defective battery seemed to prevent me from getting shore power. We will now see if the three batteries will charge and maintain it. Thanks for all of the replies. No shore powerQuestion from an electrical novice. If the house batteries are dead or defective, do they prevent the shore power from working? We have a 50A circuit on our house and the breaker seems fine. Plugged in power cord and got nothing. That has never happened before. Thanks for your help.Re: $700 replacement toilet???? jimx200 wrote: dodge guy wrote: Is a standard toilet or a vacu-flush toilet? It is a standard toilet. CW just called and said that it has to be a "Bemis" toilet and another brand could not be used. I don't feel like that is correct. I'm calling Fleetwood to see if they can give me any insight.Re: $700 replacement toilet????Thank you for the responses!! I called Camping World to clarify the $700 bill for a toilet. The breakdown is as follows: $320 for a Bemis toilet. I tried search for online to compare prices but could not find a Bemis toilet anywhere. Asked if it had to be a Bemis and she did not know and said she would have to find out. Labor is $170. Supplies $30 and yikes shipping is estimated at $200. Again I asked if they didn't have something in stock that would work and she said they would have to get back to me. It is porcelein. On Amazon I found reasonably priced porcelain rv toilets which had FREE shipping!! So I will have to wait until tomorrow and see what they find out.Re: $700 replacement toilet????Thank you for your responses. When you feel like you are being taken advantage of...you probably are! We are from Holland Ohio. I have heard of Holland, MI but didn't realize there was a Holland, KY also.$700 replacement toilet????We took our Fleetwood Expedition MH in for repairs. One of the repairs that needed to be done was replacing the toilet. For the toilet alone we were just quoted $700!! When my husband asked why he was told that it was a special toilet and would have to order from Fleetwood. Since I didn't speak with them I'm not sure what kind of special toilet it is. It seems and works just like any other toilet we have had in campers. It has no special features. My question is: Are camping toilets universal or do we need a Fleetwood toilet? Any insights would be helpful. I plan on calling the service department tomorrow morning but wanted to be prepared.Unhooking toad at campgroundWe purchased our first class A a few months ago. We recently got all set up so we can use our F150 as our toad. Our first vacation with the toad is coming up and now my wife can't go (boo) due to a family health issue, but she is insisting that the kids and I still go. My concern is when I get to the campground, since I am the only driver, how do I unhook the toad and get it to the site without getting in the way and holding everybody else up, as it will take me a while to do everything by myself? I have never really paid attention to where and how others unhook their toads.Stranded without hot water. This is our first camping trip with our motorhome. So we r trying to get hot water. This is what we have done so far: we had the switch on bypass by accident and have since corrected this. Before we corrected this the electric was running for 1-2 hours and then we turned on the propane. So we were heating the tank without water by accident. Now the switch is off bypass and water is in tank. We have tried propane and electric but still no hot water. The flame was visable on the hot water tank. The panel switch inside the motorhome flashed red for a moment but they r not on now. Not sure if that is normal or not. Any suggestions?? It's a little chilly and staying at campground without facilities.
