I should not have referred to them as holding tanks. It's the fresh water tank that you would fill if you were going to be dry camping. I do have a pressure regulator attached to the hose. It's not 1 that has a gauge.Re: Carpet replacementI tried to swap my carpet out for some sort of flooring. Techs told me that it would gum up the slide function. I think they didn't want to deal with it. I'm still holding out that I can find someone in the future that can come up with a solution to make me happy. Carpet seems to get dirty and it's difficult to clean. Flooring would just require a quick sweep to get it clean. YMMVWater holding tank is filling while on city waterI have a class A Coachmen Aurora 2007 that I use for full time living. Recently while hooked up to city water and all the knobs on the panel show city water, my holding tank is filling up. It fills to the point where it overflows and spills out. I have never had this issue before. We are several months into our Florida adventure. I don't have any schematics of the water system. It appears that somehow while under pressure, water is flowing into the holding tanks. Those tanks should be empty. Right now we are running off of the water pump using the tank water. Every few day I'll fill the tanks so we don't run out. I'd like to figure out how to fix this but for the life of me I don't know where to start. We are scheduled to house sit at the end of the summer. If I don't get this worked out by them I'll drop it at the shop for them to remedy. Unless someone out there in the internet world has faced this challenge before. So let's fix this together and I'll let you know how it turns out. In my 11 years of RVing I've discovered 2 things that fix most problems. Time & money. Just how much of each is always variable. Some fixes are easier than others. I'm hoping this is 1 of those. NiceRe: Top things you need to know as camp host?I have been a volunteer camp host at 4 different state parks and was a paid camp host in a national forest. Often you may be involved with other hosts. Some of the hosts that return from year to year will be helpful. Watch out for the hosts with bad attitudes. We had 1 host couple that did a lot of badmouthing about the operation. People like that are easy to spot. Be polite but don't play their game. The part I liked best was interacting with the campers. Most are there to have fun. There are always a few that will try your patience. I found it helpful to ask a few questions of the campers. Things like where they were from, what they did for a living and other places they camped that they enjoyed. I found that people like to share their personal experiences with you.Shore power cordI have the new cord. Is this an easy DIY project? Has anyone tackled this upgrade? What should I look out for?Re: Where are you work camping? Dtslinger wrote: Monello wrote: I'm still trying to get a spot at YNP. I did 3 months there in 2012. Not the best job but it's an amazing place to spend your free time. If you are a single Yellowstone Association is looking for a single employee for the summer. At least as of this moening they were. ThanksRe: Yellowstone jobI spent 1 summer working in Yellowstone recently. My experience is that it's easy to move to a different position once you get hired. I had a crew of 9 people. 1 of the more capable employees moved from food service over to maintenance. Later he told me he was much happier doing that sort of work. People are always leaving for some reason out there. turnover is somewhat high. They need over 3,000 seasonal hires to run the different locations in the park. If you didn't mind doing some grunt work until you got adjusted and then found something you'd like better, it may be worth it for you. I was in a salaried position last time there. If I go back it will be as an hourly employee. I'd rather work 40 hour and have time off to enjoy the park instead of working 55 hour weeks. I'm not working for the money at this point. I take the job so I can park in their campground all summer long. YMMVRe: Any good Camp Host stories? In a state park around the 4th of July, 1 camper reported seeing a flare on the river. Most likely it was a roman candle firework. That brought out the divers and other rescue personnel. Nothing was ever found but it sure brought out a lot of people late at night. I had an interesting interaction in a National Forest back in 2013. Camper A claimed that Camper B had 'stolen' 1 of their leveling blocks. A claimed that they had put the block of wood under the hitch to level their trailer. B claimed that the block was left on the edge between the 2 adjoining campsites. We've all seen things like bricks and wood blocks left in campsites. A was adamant that they had the block under the trailer. B offered to give it back but didn't want to be seen as a thief. I think A may have been mistaken seeing how it's a pretty bold move to go in and take 1 block of wood while it's being used. That same summer I had a couple with a rescue dog in their campsite. They crated the dog when they left to go on their boat. The wife told me the dog would calm down once their truck left since the engine was what had the dog all spun up and yapping. After they pulled away the dog cried all afternoon until they got back later in the evening. There are always going to be people that make hosting a challenge. Thankfully there are lots of enjoyable people out there that make it worth it.Re: Where are you work camping?I'm still trying to get a spot at YNP. I did 3 months there in 2012.
