I love mine.best oil to use for generator and chev engineI will be spending all my time in the SW and want to know what the best oil is to use in Onan 7000 and a Chevy 8.1 gas engine. Any thoughts ? synthetic or regular?Re: water heater leakin pressure release valveNot to beat a dead horse but new to me thanks for all the input I will use your input to check out my drip. Much appreciated.water heater leakin pressure release valveI noticed today the pressure release valve on my water heater has a very slow drip. How often should that valve be replaced and is now the time. Doesn't seem like a complicated job any precautions that should be taken? What is the life expectancy of a water heater? Coach is 10 years old. Should the heater be replaced at a predetermined age or just wait for it to burn out? There is certainly a fair amount of rust at the drain plug.Intermitent wipers problemMy wipers seem possessed. They work fine then all of a sudden the will only work on high and stop in any other setting or they just can not be turned off any other way than pulling the fuse. After a day or so when I turn them on they work just fine. I have a workhorse chassis with a chev 8.1 engine. I would think this is a switch issue but before I spend the $200 parts plus installation to replace the whole steering column switch mechanism that controls cruise control, hazards, and turn signal I would like others input. Thanks in advance.Re: Best route from Vancouver to Cresent City CAI just came down from Seattle thru Crescent City. Took I5 to Portland then to 101 down the Oregon Coast. It was a beautiful run. Stayed a few days in Bookings OR. Gas was way cheaper north and more expensive as you head south. Keep it filled up. Redwoods in No CA spectacular very little traffic. Take the scenic roads if you have time. In Santa Rosa for a couple days then headed further south. Have a good trip.non working air hornsBought this used 05 Newmar 37' Kountry Star and the air horns are not working. When I turn the switch on the dash I would expect the horn would switch from honk to air horns when pushed in the center of the wheel. Nope same old standard horn honk. I have checked the 50ampn fuse that also runs the onboard computer under the hood and it is fine. Could there be a solenoid that is out or something else to look at? Thanks for your input.Re: waking to dead new batteriesJrnymn7 Thanks for your reply the is the answer to your inquiry 1) 12.9-13.1 while generator is running 2) Norcold 1200X IMXX set in the automatic mode. 3) Centennial GC2200P Deep Cycle, 20 HR Amp rating of 216 4) Magnum Energy MM-RC 5) Yes I have a small hand held volt meter tester Perhaps the refer should be in the LP mode as far as a heater on the refer I am not aware of that. Not sure why there is a need for that either but I'm learning. Also, as for the furnace yes it was running but not much as it was set at 60 degrees so it was cycling on and off sporadically throughout the night.Re: waking to dead new batteriesThanks for all the previous input. Obviously I have a lot to learn and I am doing so on the fly or should I say on the road. We'll see what happens tonight.Re: waking to dead new batteriesBatteries are in a 2005 37' Newmar Kountry Star Class "A" motorhome. I would have thought they were completely charged from the night before as I drove 150 miles ran the generator for a couple hours in the afternoon and shut everything down except for the furnace that I set at 60 degrees for the night. The refer is set to auto so I assume it was running on LP. Not sure of any other electrical drain over the course of the evening. The current reading on the onboard volts is 12.9 to 13.1 the generator has been running since 7:30 this morning. I would think the batteries are completely charged by now.
